But before I activate it, I would first like to use it on a test/mirror blog to make sure all the customizations are exactly like I want them before I use it on my main blog.

Can I do this if I only purchase the Custom Design upgrade once?

The edit button is there when you are logged in to your account in case you would like to edit any of your posts, however if you log out that edit link will disappear. Third parties are not able to edit your posts unless you've given them specific permission to do so and they themselves are logged in to the WordPress.com system!

It looks like Flickr has changed the structure of their RSS feeds a bit. The widget still works, but your Flickr RSS URL may need to be changed.

Your RSS URL can be found on your photostream on Flickr (not a photo, album, tag, or any other page). Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see the RSS icon and "Subscribe to [name]'s photostream." Right click on either and copy the URL and paste that into the widget's Flickr RSS URL box.

This change on Flickr's end has the potential to break everything that uses a Flickr RSS feed, so if you as a customer could let Flickr know, we'd (and everyone else who relies on Flickr RSS feeds) would really appreciate it.

It is entirely possible that the new design may be rolling out gradually and that what I see under my Flickr photostream is not the same as what you see. What I can see for sure is that the structure of the RSS URL has indeed changed, so contacting Flickr may be the best course of action for you.

You absolutely can! You can use the Image widget to add an image which you've uploaded to your Media Library to your sidebar.

To access your widgets and choose which ones display and which don't in your sidebar, you can log in to your account's Dashboard and then navigate to Appearance >> Widgets and add or remove widgets from the available widget window to the sidebar on the right side of the screen!

I'm sorry to say that there is no way to automatically duplicate posts across your two blogs. Once you have written one post however, you can go in and edit the post, click on the Text tab to see the code version of the post, copy it, and then paste it on the other blog. I am seeing the same behavior on my WordPress hosted site (dreamoutloud.ws) and my self hosted site (pk-images.com).
The behavior that I am seeing is that during the majority of the day, the service works fine (excellent, in fact). But between the hours of 18:00 - 21:00 Pacific Standard Time, VideoPress videos play for about the first 10 - 20 seconds and then begin buffering, displaying the dot-circle icon in the middle of the screen, and never really recover. It displays the same behavior across all my browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari) and while VideoPress videos do not play, other video hosting services do not display the same behavior.
I have noticed this problem for months, but hoped that it was just something to do with traffic for my ISP or connection or whatever. But last week, a client from the other side of Los Angeles notified me of the same behavior during the same time frame. This is not good. Please advise what steps we can take to resolve this.
