You cannot upload themes here at wp dot com, you have to use the themes under the presentation tab. We are on a multi-user version of the wordpress software and that is one of the limitations.

Also, I downloaded the latest neo-sapien version (v.06) but I don't know what to do with it. I realize that it has a bunch of code but ? I am using the maximum screen resolution.

I just created a new blog (toecho.wordpress.com) using Neo-Sapien by Small Potato, and I'm indeed having the problem with the right sidebar columns (#3 and 4) dropping to the bottom of the screen. If Small Potato is still following this forum, could you let me know how to fix this situation or whether I need to switch to a different theme altogether? I really like this theme and hope that I don't have to switch, especially since I'm not crazy about any of the other themes. Thanks in advance.

The only theme i have had an issue with on my mac is Neo-Sapien, which drops the right-hand sidebar down to the bottom regardless of my screen resolution.

I use basically all Macs and don't have any real issues other than no visual editor with Safari. CSS works with browsers regardless of your operating system. Heck, I even load up Firefox, IE and Safari on a Linux system.....

Looks like the OP removed her site. Even so, this Mac user and others who've posted confirm that there are no special issues with Macs and the use of the templates on this site. No extraordinary measures need to be taken to enjoy full use of features.

Yes; wordpress.com has been designed with Firefox in mind, so if it's at all possible to use it then it's a good idea to do so.

WordPress looks better and behaves better for me in FireFox as opposed to Safari. That is in spite of my being a Safari fan.

The only problems I have experienced with Safari is trouble uploading headers to the Kubrick theme, and *sometimes* (rarely) the post kinda gets mixed up with the sidebar.

I can see the difference now that I am using a Mac, it looks better in Safari than most browsers, seriously. I'd prefer Safarri over FF.

I have a mac, and haven't had any problems at all. I usually use Firefox, but things look ok in Safari too.

I have both PC and mac, and frankly prefer the Mac :D

i'm using the biology skin ported to sandbox by wank herself. i have very basic knowledge on css, but wank's directions are easy to follow and luckily i didn't face any problems. basically it's possible to use css without the knowledge as some are just plain copy and paste.

Themes shouldn't be switching spontaneously without you changing them in the presentation panel, nor should they all be screwing up in all your browsers. If this were a Mac issue, a lot more people would be complaining about it, so I'm inclined to think there must be something wrong with your blog on wordpress's end. Contact staff through the 'support' tab or email support at wordpress.com.

The designer of Sandbox recently ran a competition which resulted in nearly fifty new skins. They may require some tweaking to work here as we're running on an older version, but even if you don't like any of them they should give you some idea of what can be done with the theme.

It looks like a nice template to me; simple and streamlined. And I don't see flowers anywhere at the moment.

One thing I'd suggest if you still have problems is to try checking your blog in Browser Shots. It'll show you what your blog looks like in other browsers, using other operating systems... it's not perfect, but at least it'll give you an idea of what other people are seeing when they look at it, and if it's different to what you see.

No worries. There's a LOT to read about CSS. Timethief's linked some good tutorials in other threads, so follow those up. I'm only learning about it myself. sulz has put up some CSS skins herself at http://sulz.wordpress.com/ so ask her how she does it.

Yes, you have to learn CSS before you can use it. It's not prefab at all. The #1 complaint we get from CSS upgrade purchasers is that they don't know how to use CSS. There are CSS tutorials at http://www.tizag.com that will walk you through the basics.

Ha, I haven't even gotten around to figuring out HMTL. But I do know how to look up color codes and paste them in there. That's as cool as I've gotten. Envy and applaud, right?

Well that's a cryin' shame.

I think I may have flushed $15.- of good, credit card money down the pipes. Most of the themes on here are really lame and I'd rather be kicked in the elbow than try and figure out this whole CSS crapperoni.

mark is right. You cannot just add other themes. If you are using Sandbox you can tweak the look almost infinitely, from what I understand, but you're not using that from what I understand. You cannot change the functionality, you can just COPY the look of other things. Do a search of the forums for Sandbox and you'll find the best information on doing that.

To reiterate: you cannot simply add other themes. You can imitate them, if you copy some of their CSS and write some adaptation yourself.

You can't add your own theme's here. You could make a request for it. You could also use the Day Dream theme, Upload a custom header image and then change the colors accordingly.

You can use Sandbox and drop pre-made CSS into it from what I understand. Or you can tweak any of the existing themes until they look good on your Mac; that's what CSS is for.

Hi. New to the site - I'm an OS X user and all the themes look like crap on all of my browsers. They are either jumbled or full of errors. Any other Mac users out there and how do you get around it? I just bought the upgraded CSS today - thinking I could get a pre-made layout - but no dice there either.
