It sounds, however, like the folder 'wordpress-importer' may already exist in your plugins directory, if you have FTP access, can you browse to your plugins directory and see if that folder does exist? If so, please delete it and try installing the plugin again. If this doesn't work, you'll be able to find more help on the WordPress.org forums.
