Here's a mini-tutorial I wrote on how to achieve this with inline CSS, it should be useful.

Take a look at this which will get you started. After setting it up in the CSS, you have to add a span around the first letter of the first paragraph and specify the class you used for the drop cap definition in the CSS. I didn't put the http:// in the link below because if I do on an external link I am likely to get arrested by the spam cops here and held in the dungeon till some staff member has pity on me and lets me out.

Does anyone know if it's possible to add some CSS that will make the first letter of my blog posts automatically larger than the rest of the post? Grateful thanks for any help you can offer.

@TT, the linked demo is from the theme designer's site, not from theme.wordpress.com, which does not show the flickr widget.

IMHO displaying anything on the Theme Showcase demo site that's not available on our blogs is misleading so I hope Staff do take note of this and rectify the display on the demo site.

I expect that the flickr widget at the bottom of the demo is either a specially designed flickr widget, or perhaps a plugin/widget directly from flickr. The one you see on your blog is the wordpress.COM flickr widget, and to redesign it would require access to the widget script files and we do not have access to those.

I saw the Flickr widget in your footer using Firefox 3.6.13 and it's displaying thumbnails in a single column. I set up my test blog with the Titan theme and got the same result. The Flickr widget is displaying the thumbnails in a single column and not as depicted on the theme demo site. I'm flagging this thread so it gets Staff attention from the Theme Team.

Should probably start another thread on this, but rather than cluttering up the place...

If you look at the bottom of this Titan demo page...

...you'll see a Flickr feed very nicely displayed.

When I enable the Flickr feed on my site, it looks very different and rather ugly. I'd really appreciate any help you can offer as to how I might replicate the appearance of the Flickr feed on the Titan demo page. Many thanks.

BTW, if you get the CSS upgrade and hid this, you can put the RSS link widget into the sidebar to show your RSS feed.

This will get rid of it and keep the darker brown band at the top.

I don't help with CSS. Only 2 volunteers do and neither one is on the board right now. I do know that cannot access the underlying PHP and HTML in our theme templates files, only Staff can.

I have some background in HTML and CSS although I'm probably a little rusty.

Looking at the stylesheet for Titan, I see:

I can see how I could adjust this to change things like spacing and column widths, but I'm not sure it would allow me to remove the RSS link at the top of the page. Wouldn't I need access to the HTML to do that?

Here iare the relevant links for you. Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

Thanks timethief. Yes, I'm very happy to link to my RSS feed, but I would prefer it if the link weren't situated where it is. I'll take a look at the CSS editing upgrade.

The Follow word is not linked the RSS Feed is linked to your RSS feed for posts
http://barrycooper.com/feed/ and there is no option not to display this RSS feed icon on the Titan theme > Appearance > Theme Options > Titan Options

The only way you can either remove of cover it from displaying is by purchasing an annually renewable CSS editing upgrade. Also note that removing the display does not remove the feed. It will still function. The only way to disable the feed is to set the blog to "private".
