If you are, please do these four things:

1. Let us know which browser (and version of) you're using.

2. Try clearing your browser's cache: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

4. Try enabling HTTPS: http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

Please don't give your password here (or anywhere else). I'm a volunteer, like most people who answer questions here on the forums and could not get into your account (nor should we be able to). Staff can see inside your account providing they have the correct URL (web address).

I'm going to flag this for staff to look at, as I can't really help any further at the moment. In the meantime, someone else might be able to think of something. (You can tell who is staff by the word beneath their username - you and I have 'member'. If you see any that say 'inactive', just ignore that as it's a bug.)

Still can't get these editing buttons to work.
Thought of trying it on Windows 7 with a newer version IE browser, but since I do all my work on a Mac OS 10.7 iMac and use Firefox or Safari . . .
would prefer to resolve the problem.

Would you like the password, to log in and try it at your end?

I just went through and did everything in Timethief's suggestions from

en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/unable-to-upload-images-as-of-yesterday?replies=5

Then, went back to try again. The "Upload/Insert" button above the visual formatting buttons applies to [Media] [Polls] and [Custom Forms]. It will work if I wanted to add a custom form, but not for images, or polls.

If I right-click on the Upload Media button, and then select "Open in a New Tab" or Open in a New Window" I can get to the promised land:

wp-admin/media-upload.php?

but when I then browse to the desired image in the media library and then click on "Insert Into Post" the page goes blank, I guess because the new window isn't really associated with the post I was editing.

Please (not absurd) bird.

I'm having the same problem as

en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/unable-to-upload-images-as-of-yesterday?replies=5 at my own blog brooklynmusic.wordpress.com/ on FF 15.0.1 and Chrome 22.0.1229.79.

Problem: I can create a new post, and edit, more or less, but when I click on post-editing buttons like Upload/Insert Media, or (over on the right) try to edit to edit the date for "Published On:", nothing happens.
Why are some Dashboard buttons inactive?

For a few weeks now I get the rest of my categories to load other than the most used. Not on any of my blogs. And i've tried in safari, firefox and IE..It says loading and then hangs up.

I have had this same problem as gambit50 on my oqn (Andreas09) blog at http://brooklynmusic.wordpress.com/
I tried the suggestion posted by raincoaster on may 7 but it did not affect the problem: (cleared cache, rebooted computer, changed blog language out of english and back a couple of times) but no luck yet.

I have nice jpeg of the categories button that I can send to support, but wanted to trya nd resolve it through the forum before burdening the wizards with another request.

I have about 17 categories on the right column of my Andreas09 blog. I'm using Firefox (updated) and Safari to check on posts. I have a post that I can't seem to send into its proper category, and though the category shows up when I'm in Management, I can't see it on the page.
There's what looks like a glitch, when I scroll down from the post editing screen to assign it to a category. I took a screen capture of the glitch, maybe I can post it somewhere for people to have a look.

Yeap, a very annoying glicth indeed. More than annoying, I would say, since not even with 9-10 edits a change did stick. I guess I'll just wait -- perhaps someone from support will find out and correct whatever problem there is.

It's an annoying glitch. Be aware that all posts must have at least one category or tag, even if it's just Uncategorized. I have found it takes an average of three edits to get changes to stick, no idea why.

I have tried many times recategrizing a post -- unsucessfully. After un-checking a category box and saaving, the category is still there. I don't know what to do.

ah.. just tested it in FireFox and it works. Thanks for indirectly suggesting that... should've tried that before. I'll use FireFox until IE works, or forever for categorizing, lol.

Rats, forgot to explain that. When I click on "All Categories", it freezes with a 'loading circle' icon. I can't access them after that, even if I refresh. It's defaulting to "Most Used", which is only showing "Uncategorized". I even tried "Add new Category", but it does the same thing (only it also makes a very small space appear between the link and the box with the categories, which I believe is where a box is supposed to go).

When you click on "edit" post, and then scroll down to the categories section, do you see any categories listed? What happens when you click "show all categories" (or whatever the link is called?

I'm new to wordpress, which is probably why I can't get this to work.
For some reason, I am unable to use categories. I have done this:
Set theme to "Pool"
Gone to Manage>Categories; and added a few categories.
Added a few pages.
Added a post.
The only problem is I can't assign the "Post" to any category other than "unassigned".
Can anyone help me here?

Yes, but we're still getting reports of old-timers not showing up also, and that seems to clear it up for them. I thought it might be that.

gambit50: I checked your dashboard and the Categories portion of the New Post tab looks normal to me. Clear your browser cache and force a refresh on that page (shift-reload or shift-refresh) - if it's still a problem, please send a screen capture to support if you can.

raincoaster: Not appearing in tag listings is not a bug; brand new blogs aren't always featured there for the first few days.

Hmm, you don't seem to be showing on the global pages, either. That might be a bug: try changing your language setting to any other language, save, then change it back. Save again. Most people report that fixes things.

Try doing the Cookie Dance: log out, clear cache and cookies, restart computer. That might set it right. If not, you'll have to contact staff when Support reopens.

Basically, when I was writing the post and scrolled down to fill Tags and Categories, the Categories layout is out of wack, overlapping and non-functional. Tags works but other functions Excerpt, etc. do nothing when I click on them. Post was published(latest one). Logged out and back and will check for the possibility there is a nasty in my system playing around. Yes, I am really reaching but it is just so simply obnoxious. Thanks for helping.

Hello,
I just wrote a new post and when trying to put the Category to it, the layout of the Category bar in my admin is screwed up and nothing works. Tags and other functions are fine. I am pretty new to WordPress so if I have just asked something stupid, forgive me. I have looked on forums for the same problem but have not found it. Thanks

Amm i think thats a good idea but i think it did not reach the true intention of this topic.
The guy wanted to buttons of seperate topics where post of certain critaria can be posted like so

gadgets->post related to machines,gadgets,pc,consols etc.
Reviews->posts related to all reviews.

The idea is to just have buttons not the category listed on a page.
I hope i understood your method and you understand what I want. :)
