WP doesn't break out referral statistics for the custom URL shortener. They just show up as regular hits.

Hi, Ileaneb - Snap! I asked a similar question yesterday, with respect to the pros and cons of using my.* VS bit.ly*, ow.ly etc.

My impression from reading the documentation is that when you publicise your post to twitter using 'Publicize', WP will automatically supply a URL shortener for you. But you could also put in your own URL shortener, which you obtain from a 3rd part service, using the URL of your blog post as input.
But I haven't been able to figure out what (if any) tracking stats are provided for the WP URL shortner. Nobody has commented on this aspect of my question yet, and the documentation doesn't give any hints that I've been able to find. This is tipping me towards using 3rd party, although it adds an extra step to my process. I think I will ask Staff and see what happens....

Can WordPress.com integrate some sort of tracking statistic into the wp link shortener? Or if that is not an option can we have a choice of using other shorteners that already provide tracking like bit.ly or ow.ly directly from the WordPress.com dashboard?

@ billlcop: If you're asking about my blog, I used the Vigilance theme. I then added the widgets I wanted from the widgets page. And then added my posts. As for making and moving the tabs at the top around, read the first part of this thread, it's all there.

Bingo! It worked.

Thanks again 1tess. I feel like pretty soon I'm gonna have to put on public note on my blog saying something like "Technical assistance provided by 1tess." ;-)

Now I think I'll try moving the page tabs around so they're in the order (left to right) that I want them in, instead of alphabetical order. I think I saw something about that somewhere, but could be confusing it with changing the order under parent pages.

Anyway, thank you 1tess. Once again you have saved me tons of time that otherwise would have been spent searching for info.

I want to have tabs at the top of my front page, like the "About" page. But these pages would be actually be named the same as my categories, one category per page.

Then each of those pages would have a list showing the title of each post in that category. The titles would actually be links that would open the full post (like timethief does on her blog: one cool site). I would also like new posts to be automatically added to the page of the appropriate category.

I see other blogs doing this, but I can't seem to locate the info on how to set it up.

Can anybody steer me in the right direction to the info in the support section?

digg.com definitely draws good traffic. The wordpress.com search draws good traffic, google and links posted in other forums brings me good traffic. links in profiles in social networking sites draws minor traffic for me.
But the element which is needed is well written good content and also unique content. Thus the search results will land on your site and you will appear on the top of google search.
With using digg, feedburner, twitter, posting in forums, using blogsphere, technorati, ping services, my monthly visits curve is almost like f(x)=x^2 .
But whatever it be good content is very important which insists a visitor to note down or bookmark your site, subscribe to your site and visit again.

I added this to my sidebar by finding an RSS icon I liked and then using the image widget to link it to my Feedburner RSS.
