How can I make the target "_blank — new window or tab" as default, instead of having to change this for each link;

How do you sort links into specific groups when imported, or do you import them into one group, then move them to other groups one by one?

Go to Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets.

Select an RSS widget (subtitled "Entries from any RSS or Atom feed") and drag it to the Sidebar box on the right of the screen to activate it.

Click on the drop-down arrow on the RSS widget to expand it.

In the widget field labeled "Enter the RSS feed URL here," insert http://www.delicious.com/v2/rss/________ (but fill in the ________ with your unique Delicious identity, which you'll see after the final forward slash in your Delicious profile's URL). The URL for your Delicious RSS feed will not work. Make sure you use this exact formulation, beginning with http://.

In the widget field labeled "Give the feed a title (optional)," type in a title for the widget, such as My Delicious Bookmarks.

Select the number of items from your Delicious feed you would like to display with the widget.

Leave the remaining three items unchecked, unless you want to configure them to suit you.

Click on the Save button.

Collapse the widget.

Your Delicious feed should now appear in the sidebar of your WordPress blog where you've positioned the RSS widget. However, please note that your Delicious RSS feed itself does not update instantaneously when you save something new on Delicious. There is a delay of around 20 minutes, I believe.

If it helps, see my Home page used as a Post Contents page @ http://bharatabharati.wordpress.com/. It has over 350 links on it listing the article content in the blog.

On the left sidebar near the bottom of the page is a Books & Articles list of links made on a custom menu widget (which was originally on the Delicious widget).

The custom menu widget is wonderful for making and sorting links because you can move the link up or down the list column and choose the position you want for the link. You can't do this on a Delicious feed as the link position in the Delicious widget is the same as in the Delicious account.

option A - create page and manually add links to it. The page tab will appear in the horizontal menu bar where all page tabs appear.

option B - create a custom menu
What’s critical is:
(1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and knowing that you cannot post to pages. Pages are static and sit outside the blog structure.

(2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or custom links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus

option C - choose to use a theme that has a Links template which automatically display all links you enter into your blogroll.

If I understand this correctly, I could create a page for each subject, post links in comments to the page (and later arrange them); or perhaps there's no easy way to post new links to a page?

You can create a page and manually add links to it. RSS widgets and in fact all widgets on free hosted WordPress.com blogs cannot be used to autofill content into pages or posts. They can only be used in sidebar and footer areas designated for widgets.

The reason for that is clear in you read the types of blogs allowed and not allowed page. The most commonly used tool of content thieving sploggers who scrape content from other blogs is what you describe.

It works but have not deployed on our clubs production site yet neiya.org . Really want to have a specific RSS feed from my stacks but this does not seem to be supported.

Thank you WP for finally informing us about the nature of the problem. We look forward to the fixing of the widget.

Archizoo, your RSS feed will work but not for those of us who have our Delicious account connected to more than one WP account. The advantage of the Delicious widget was that the links saved on a Delicious account could be sorted between the various different WP accounts.

It is not fair at all to WP user members to keep them in the dark about the non-functioning of the Delicious widget.
