WordPress.com does not encourage autoposting, and staff have asked that if a blog here is just a duplicate of one somewhere else, that it be set to Private.

Facebook and Tumblr are better if what you're looking for is a reblogging service.

I don't think it is possible, but the thing you should know is that if the search engines see duplicate content on two or more blogs, they will suspect a splogger and will likely downgrade your page ranking on both blogs. It really isn't a good idea to have two duplicate blogs that are accessible to search engines.

I have a self installed wordpress blog at http://ravidreams.net. I want the posts I make there to appear automatically at http://ravidreams.wordpress.com . How can I do this?

I tried auto-forwarding the email updates from feedburner to post to the wordpress.com post by email feature. But, it is not working.

i wanna make a correction to the request. I asked for an update assuming only then will the .po file will be updated too. But the .po file seems updated too.

So, first i would like to make the corrections to the .po file. I would like to know how to sync the .po file back to the server over riding the translations done by http://translation.wordpress.com .

Hi, we got a tamil language interface at http://ta.wordpress.com in 2007 december. in the last year we have corrected, newly translated a lot. Can someone please make these translations update at http://ta.wordpress.com ?

Also, once it goes live, we would like to download the .po file from http://svn.automattic.com/wpcom-i18n/ta.po to proof read, correct mistakes and then upload back to wordpress.com we would like to do this way, because proff reading from http://translate.wordpress.com is tedious . Please let us know how to directly upload .po files over riding http://translate.wordpress.com interface

@ravidreams, yes Mark is "staff" and part of wordpress. Sorry the answer couldn't be what you wanted to hear, but as the tamil blogging community grows, the splogger issue will come around to them, and at that time, they will all be wanting things taken down. I average having to contact 5 or 6 sites, or their ISP's, per month and I'm a small fish compared to a lot of bloggers out there.

timethief, right now non-english non-roman script blogs, especially indian language blogs are small scaled, and ad programs like adsense don't even support these blogs. so the concern of sploggers earning money from these sites is not valid. By the way, if sploggers want to steal content they can very well steal from tag based feeds and always find innovative ways to hack the system. So, I don't support the concern. May be wordpress can enable the feeds until certain scale and then stop if the blogosphere grows beyond that. I think these kind of facilities will help a lot to nurture growing blogospheres instead of isolating them.

Considering the problems that we bloggers now have with sploggers, who are parasites that steal blog contents from others to gain the pennies that advertising brings them on their splog sites I think Mark has made the correct call.

mark, thanks for the response. i understand the reasoning. but languages like tamil and many other indian langauges have a very small blogosphere scattered across many sites like wordpress, blogger etc and they would like to sync the content from all these sites at one place for an easier reading. when we have tags like computer, internet which very well generate a buzzing feed, i think it wouldn't hurt to have feeds for the whole site itself.

You have posted to the forum but volunteers answering questions here cannot help you. We make no decisions so I'm wondering if you wouldn'y like to be sure that staff get this idea from you. You have a "support" button on the top right hand corner of any admin side blog page that you can click and use to open a screen and then copy and paste the information above into and send it off to staff for consideration.

Currently wordpress gives feeds for tags in local wordpress sites. for example, there is a feed for the tag tamil at http://ta.wordpress.com/tag/tamil . But, could you give feed for the whole site http://ta.wordpress.com so we could keep track of all wordpress blog posts written in Tamil? Also, if you could publish an OPML of all the blogs written in tamil in wordpress we could make you use of that for various purposes. Say, people can try creating aggregators of different kinds for the content they get from language specific wordpress blogs.

We are improving the translation system now and for some time you will not be able to approve/dismiss strings yourself.

If there is a mistake in a string, just add the correct one as a new translation and we will approve the latest one if it is otherwise correct.

nikolay, that would be great to see the translations go live so soon ! and thanks for the explanation about missing strings.

but before it goes it live, we would like to check the translations for typos and consistency else it may look less professional. right now, we are not able to dismiss or approve translations.. those approve / links were there in the beginning. who has access for this review work?

ravidreams, the Tamil translation will go live in a day or two.

Some strings are getting dismissed usually because theres is a mismatch in placeholders (like %s) or tags between source and translation. If there are strings, which are dismissed and are perfectly legit, please contact support and we will fix them.

is dismissing translation strings without any proper comments and it is confusing. please someone clarify. Is there someone from wordpress doing this?? not possible in my guess. but who has access for dismissing the strings when none of the community members have it??

You're welcome. They get a lot of support contacts each day, so I would give them a day or two to respond. I suspect they take care of the blog emergencies first.
