@Sdrane,
when you say "accent", do you mean a true accent, like in Renée?
You can stay in the rich editor, but the code for accents is different for each letter. For é, Alt+130; for â, Alt+131; for ç, Alt+135; and so on. This works on a PC; don't know if the coding would be different for Mac.

I just realized that alt + b was changed to alt + v some time ago, and I took it wrong assuming that wordpress took it out.

The post by engtech was inspired by a post I did in the forum (as mentioned by him in his post)

jafferyme - Edit the post. Click the Code tab, then remove everything until all you see in that Code view is what it in your post above.
The Word tags are stopping it working.

You are not posting the video correctly. Have you read the FAQ on the subject? You should be using code that looks like this:

[ youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ko94b3I0X0Y ]

Do NOT use the embed code on the Youtube page, nor the URL of the page. Use the URL code in the URL box just above the Embed code on the YouTube page. That should work. Try again and let us know. It should be really easy.

I attempted to add my first video to a post. I think I entered the code properly however this is what happened when I attempted to view the post.

The post came up with a message to double click a large box to bring up the image. I double clicked.

The box became blue and my browser indicated that some process was commencing. Periodically, I would check on how it was going.

The post appeared blank but when I double clicked the blue box appeared again and the browser still showed that "loading?" was in process. After about a half hour of this, I closed the browser.

Am I posting the video properly? Is WP having some kind of problem on its end which would explain this strange behavior.

I noticed this "blue box" was right hand justified. Is it possible to manipulate the position of the video in the post. I know how to handle a picture. Is it the same for video?

For all of us in wordpress.com, there is a shortcut that will ‘unleash’ the editor toolbar.

Toggle simple/advanced toolbar:
firefox 2 alt + shift + v
firefox 1.5 alt + v
IE alt + b

you can change the font color and include special symbols.

“More” function:
Firefox 2 alt + shift + t
firefox 1.5 alt + t

“add page” function:
firefox 2 alt + shift + g
firefox 1.5 alt + g

More shortcuts can be seen when you hover your mouse on the buttons.

Why WordPress.com have not revealed this officially, that I don’t know. These functionalities are available with direct downloads of wordpress for independent users, and I found them in wordpress.com by accidental clicks. Then they took the advanced editor functionality off wordpress.com, and only put them up again only recently. Please tell me what I don’t know.

Rain, I always click within teh editor box before doing a CTRL-V. That way, it's highlighted.

Note that Ctrl V doesn't always work in IE. For no reason I can determine, sometimes it simply refuses to paste it in, acting as if nothing's happened. You then need to right-click and paste, which causes the whole post to judder horribly and then bounce you back to the beginning. Sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't.

Hi,
After i installed firefox 2, i can't use keystroke Alt+... on rich text editor, why?
If i press Alt+V, it go to View on firefox 2 menu
If i press Alt+B, it go to Bookmarks on firefox 2 menu, etc.

I dont know if this is the same issue, but when I put "save and continue editing" I actually LOSE all my information.

I've lost 3 posts within the last 2 days.
This is driving me bananas.

60 seconds cannot be the default, because I'd have noticed it long before now. Sometimes with enough links in them, my posts can take an hour to write, and I'd have screamed long before now. I haven't checked today, but Support did say they were checking into it.

I know there are multiple other ways to post than doing it live in the blogspace, but my entries come out completely different when I write offline, and I'd prefer to keep doing what I have been doing. As long as the autosave goes back to something reasonable, that should work, and Support have assured me that it will.

It was resolved, but now it's unresolved again. The autosave is literally happening once every sixty seconds, which is beyond tedious if you have a long post to do. Feedback sent.

one difference I've noticed between Rich Text Editor and regular editor. Rich Text Editor will strip out the BGCOLOR tags on tables, but regular will leave them in.

OK Rich txt editing is on, and I have tried both ie, and firefox, and the most I get is bolded type, no extra selections for formating or spell check. Are you folks running beta's of wordpress? I am using 2.0.4

Are you people using a special toolbar or anything like that, maybe I dont have something installed that others do. Just a thought.

yep u do have to type something first
and then press the alt b
now it works perfectly

Just did some testing, the issue is definitely that the Rich Text Editor hasn't taken control of the keyboard input yet because you haven't clicked/typed anything in it yet.

ampin: click inside the Rich Text Editor before you hit Alt-B in Firefox.

I use Firefox exclusively, and I've had no prob with Alt-B.
