If you have the Custom Design upgrade, you can use the CSS solution provided here:

Otherwise, I do not believe it is possible.

I have changed to just a header image and the header text is hidden. Now my search button has moved from the top right into my navigation bar. It is grey and just looks ugly. I have added a search widget to the sidebar, and I want to remove this search button from my navigation bar. I don't have the CSS upgrade. Can I do this somewhere in the dashboard?

There is a features filter in the searchbox in the Themes Forum here http://theme.wordpress.com/ Click "find a theme".

Thanks, timethief. I appreciate your help. Is there some sort of resource that provides information in a summary format for such mechanical aspects of themes, or does one have to just slog through the theme descriptions?

BTW, I checked out your blog. It is lovely and very useful. Thanks for adding value to this community!

The theme is operating the way it is designed to operate. There is no sidebar on single posts in this theme. I find this article to be very helpful when working with the Twenty Eleven theme.

I recently changed my theme to the 2011 theme, which I'm enjoying. However, I noticed that the pages generated for individual posts do not have sidebars on them, even though I selected the "Content Left" option in the theme setup. I thought that perhaps the problem was that individual posts use the "showcase" template, but adding widgets to the Showcase widget section didn't seem to resolve the problem.

Am I missing something, or am I relegated to having widgets only at the bottom of these posts?

May I remove the ‘Blog at WordPress.com’ credit in my site’s footer?
Although the Custom Design Upgrade certainly grants you the capability to hide the credit from your site’s footer, you are not permitted to do so. Even our VIP bloggers are required to maintain the credit. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/#frequently-asked-questions

Hi! I'd like help to remove the search bar and wordpress footer info on the 2011 theme. When I look upder Appearance for the Editor option, I don't have an Editor option. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

2011 cannot display the sidebar on the single-post view. You need a different theme.

Hi
Just got going .....
I am using 2011 theme
The side bar displaying widgets stays there when viewing a static page
but when I select a post from a category the side bar with widgets disappears and the post take up all the space???

I really want my side bar with widgets on view all the time.

Been experimenting with post formats but all that seems to do is change how the post is displayed in the category's window ???

I really hope 2011 theme will allow me to have the side bar on show all the time or is 2010 the theme I need instead??

Any help is massively appreciated

This is so screwy. The "corrected" selector I last mentioned shows up in the twenty eleven demo site, but it is different from what is in YOUR site. I guess I can no longer use the wordpress theme demos to figure out CSS for people when I can't see their site.

Change the first bit back to this.

I'm not sure if you can see all my CSS customizations. So, I posted them below. It still isn't centering for me. Maybe it has to do with the code already in there about deleting the search form? I got that from another forum post.

I'm sorry, I messed up on the first selector name. Use the following.

The code above does work. You have to include ALL of it, and put it at the end of your current CSS customizations.
