Hi,

I'm really not very tech minded so hoping someone can help me please.

I have a wordpress.com site, hosted by wordpress. It's my own domain that somehow I managed to map to it. The domain was purchased through 123.reg so I have paid extra to them to have a custom email address. It's set up and works for outgoing mail but not incoming. I presume there's something in the settings that I need to change but I'm terrified of messing up the settings for my site.

if anyone has any idea what I need to check or change and is able to explain in simple steps I would be so grateful!

Thanks, Sarah

If you want to keep the e-mail service with us, you will need to point your MX record to:

mbox.avoidthescene.com

and you should create an A record for the mbox subdomain pointing to:

216.35.196.89

The records you will need to add that follow the listed syntax in the article are:

MX 0 mbox.avoidthescene.com
A mbox 216.35.196.89

We are not absolutely sure about the second record though. You should contact wordpress.com for more information on this matter.

All of that sounds like absolute gibberish to me though! I'm pretty good with computers, but this is the part that's starting to confuse me.

I have an existing website that my dad has had a company doing the upkeep on it. He wants me to take it over but they don't offer a quick and easy solution to change the website. I have used WordPress before, but it was for a brand new site. I was wondering: is there a way to migrate the website as is over to the WordPress server and then be able to change everything on there as needed? This website also has many email addresses that are attached to it. We want to keep the same addresses and everything.
We want this done ASAP - so if anyone can offer any help since I can't find a WP customer support phone number or anything. I'm wanting to upgrade to not have the ads and everything on the site as well.
Thanks for all your help!

thanks for ur reply however i'm not askin that if we go to dashboard-->store--->Add a domain----> learn more
they mention it

The Domain Mapping Upgrade allows you to use a custom domain name, such as example.com, instead of a standard WordPress.com domain name—like example.wordpress.com—for your blog.
■Your own domain name looks way better on your business cards.
■You can have email addresses on the same domain name ([email redacted])
■You can create subdomains mapped to different sites.
■Own your domain - your address won't change, even if you leave WordPress.com.

Domain name registration plus domain mapping costs $18.00 ($13.00 for mapping, $5 for registration) per year, per domain.

If you already have registered a domain, mapping is just $13.00 per year, per domain.

To get started, just enter a domain name and follow the prompts!

"You can have email addresses on the same domain name ([email redacted])" what does it refers to
