Answering my own question:

Solution:

Dashboard-->My Blogs--> This will take you to a different screen.
On My Blogs screen, move your mouse over the "transfer blog" option. Click it and read carefully the information. A red screen with some confirmation text will apper.

I've recently migrated my blog on Posterous to WordPress.com. Then, I made it private because I had to organize categories and more than 217 posts. I also changed its address from "example.wordpress.com" to "theexample.wordpress.com".

After doing that, I tried to start another wordpress.com blog with the address "example.wordpress.com", but I couldn't.

I have read on the Support's site: <i>If you find that a blog address is registered by another user, you may be able to obtain it for your use if the owner of the blog agrees to transfer it to you. You may contact the blog owner – via a comment on their site or through a contact form, if available – to ask for their consent. If you do not get permission, or do not hear back from the blog owner, we cannot transfer the blog address to you.</i>

Maybe it is a stupid question, but... how do I transfer the previous address (created by me) to myself? u_u

Can anybody help me?

Hi everyone,

This is my first time on wordpress and I'm already having a bit of a problem... I purchased the following domain "http://whitetshirt.me" via wordpress and when I visit my page, it re-directs me to "http://whitetshirtdotme.wordpress.com" which is obviously rubbish. How can I get it so that the address stays as whitetshirt.me?

Macmanx,

I've used the lost password route and managed to rest it and delete my old blog. I'm fairly sure I did the same thing before but it doesn't matter now as it has worked.

I'm still waiting on the confirmation of the blog's deletion, hopefully that will come through soon (I'll keep checking the spam section as well).

There definitely wasn't a glitch, you chose to create the new username 2dplus when you changed the blog's name, so you'll need to log in as 2dplus not marchaha.

If you have lost access to that WordPress.com account, please visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword

The reset email will be sent to the email address that assigned to 2dplus, which will not be the same email address as your marchaha account.

Please check your email's spam section if you don't see the reset email in your inbox, and please let us know if that doesn't work for you!

Thanks for replying. This is the conundrum I'm having. I can't log in using my new or old password. I created the blog and still receive emails with likes and follows yet when I try to log in, WordPress says it's not my blog. How is this possible?

As raincoaster has stated, there is obviously a glitch somewhere when changing blog addresses that alter permissions. I need an admin person to delete the blog for me. Happy to provide any details necessary to prove I created it.

You selected to change your username to match the blog when you moved it. You'll need to log in under that new username to delete it.

Yes that seems to be what has happened. I simply can't see why I couldn't access the blog.

I flagged this for staff. Usually when it happens it's because you have two different usernames, but sometimes there's a glitch and you literally can't get to the blog. They'll sort it for you.

Well yes that's the correct address/url. A bit of history: I created livingux, then changed the name and address to 2dplus, and since then I couldn't access the dashboard yet I'm still receiving emails with people 'liking' and 'following' 2dplus.

I have since started another blog from scratch and don't need 2dplus but seeing as I can't access the dashboard for whatever reason, I can't delete the account myself.

I need an administrator to do this for me.

You keep getting that error because that's the wrong URL. Did you mean http://2dplus.wordpress.com/ instead?

Hey Everyone,

I would like to use a blog address that is currently in use from another the blog that is not in use, it appears they put a few pieces together and they did not leave any means of contact. The blog has been untouched since 2006, so I don't think they intend to use it.

Is there a way I can find the user who owns the blog and get in touch with them?

i just updated my url (bought a domain) and my wordpress referrels have plummeted. i used to have depressiontimeblog.wordpress.com. thought i was improving my SEO when i changed primary to http://depression-time.com/. went from receiving like 30, 40, 50 wordpress referrels a day to 5, 10, 15. is there some reason for this? some way to repair it?

Sorry but there is no way to recover the URL you deleted because there is no recycling of deleted blog URLs here at WordPress.com. Confirm by reading http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ and
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/
Prior warning of this is given to prevent accidental deletions by insuring everyone who deletes a blog has been warned that what they are doing is irreversible.

You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.

Hi there,

So I only have one wordpress site right now, (humankindbodywork.wordpress.com- it's private because it's under construction). However, I want to switch the address back to my self-titled business name, emilygowenbodywork.wordpress.com, which I had it under before. Now the site is saying that name is already taken! However, I'm pretty positive it's taken by me... is there a secret way I can change it back? How do I do this? Or do I have to buy the .com? I will probably buy the .com anyway, but I'd rather have time to make the decision. Thanks!

Not at all technical alas, this is my first attempt at anything like this but... I've bought a 'proper' address and managed to link it to my blog page. I've created a page I'm reasonably happy with although I can't put pictures where I'd like them to go. But my main problem is when I type the web address, it brings up just the blank page with my own title and tag line, but no proper text. When I click the tag line, my own page appears. I don't know how to get this proper page to appear immediately.. Any help would be gratefully received, thanks for reading.

Thank you for your reply. I figured the only thing to do was use a different address. Just seems there should be some kind of notice or warning that this happens. I know some people aren't even aware their email address is being sent when they comment, and so they don't even know that they should use a different address in WP to retain their privacy.

You can replace your email address with a free throwaway one very easily. Many of us use throwaway email addresses for blog related stuff. That way we keep our personal email addresses for use of close friends and family only.

You have two separate email address settings at WordPress.com. Have you entered two different email addresses at these locations (see below) or have you entered the same one at both locations?

Blog notifications for the admin (like comment moderation, Likes, new subscriptions, etc) are sent to the email address at Settings -> General in the Dashboard. Try changing this one first.

Personal notifications (like comments on your post, subscription emails, and upgrade renewals) are sent to the email address at Users -> Personal Settings in the Dashboard.

Hello,

When I comment on another user's post, my email address is sent to them with the comment notification (as other user's email addresses are sent to me in the notification when they comment on my post).

I understand this helps prevent spam etc, but shouldn't there be some warning that my personal email address will be sent? If I had know this, I would have initially used a different email address in my WordPress settings. I can't really find any info about this (seems to be a privacy issue), or am I missing something here?
