Firefox doesnt seem to do annoying things like that, though Ill admit I`m not an expert, nor a staff member.

I know that you are upset that all is not as you would like, but it seems that you accidentally typed a response or two that came out a little irritated. I know that this was, of course, unintentional, but perhaps you should be more cautious the next time you write so that those who are trying to help you feel inclined to continue doing so.

Indeed and "ad not by this site" means they are not placed there by WordPress.com.

The ads on the top of the page have never appeared on my pages nor my dashboard before. Why now? That's what I want to know. I read the information when I signed up--I don't appreciate your assumption that I am foolish or cannot read. :-(. It is just that they are new, annoying, and both ce on the same day.

Thanks for the link, although it does imply ignorance on my part. I am trying the clearing of cache etc. it did not work.

Do you have some useful suggestions?

I clicked on the "?" and it was malware, something called "Coupon Connection" which I was unaware I had installed as it was packaged with some other software I downloaded. I have since uninstalled it from my computer. I am very sorry.

Some background: what you're experiencing is called "Referrer Spam", and it's an unfortunate side effect of the way statistics tracking works. Spammers take advantage of the referrer logs and visit your blog from phantom URLs that they are actually trying to promote, in the hope that you see them in your logs and click them.

In the meantime, you can rest assured that there is no security risk here, to you or to you blog. It's just an annoyance, but one we will hopefully be able to get rid of very soon.

1. Do not click the links.
2. Do not post the URL or names of the site into forum threads.

This number of views is matched by a 'referrer' entry, and when I click on the referrer, it goes to 'adf.ly' - which looks like some advertising bot of some sort.
Can anyone tell me what is going on here - I'd prefer to have a realistic idea of views, not pumped up by adware.
