Indeed now everything appears normal. For two days the size of the pictures were different. Not anymore. Strange.

As long as the images are inserted as "full width" and the limit width setting at the bottom of your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page is set correctly for any content column width changes you've made, I think the images should be okay.

I checked http://aucoindemarue.wordpress.com/ and all of the images look to be sized correctly to me on the first page. Can you please point me to where I can see images displaying at the wrong size on your blog?

I extended Custom Design a few days ago but suddenly today all sizes of my pictures changed??? They are normally 900x675 and some of them appear way much smaller on the blog??? They are normally all from the same size.
Could you please help me?

Thanks, that's what I thought too. Oh wells, I suppose that ruling is good enough for me. I must say it would've been all round better if the Visual Editor just remained as it was before since, after all, there's a preview button for each post. What really got to me was how the Visual Editor for Ambiru now is even smaller than the font size for published posts.

Anyway, thanks all for the help and suggestions.

Either zoom in (browser setting) or use the Text Editor, as I mentioned above.

Once a theme has been included in the seemingly ever-growing list of themes where the visual editor uses the same font as the theme itself, there's unfortunately no going back.

There is probably a way to change the editing font using a GreaseMonkey script in FireFox, but unfortunately it's an old workaround and I cannot find the post about it. Perhaps one of the other forum volunteers remembers more about it.

justjennifer's screencaps are exactly what shows in my user interface.

As I said before, the Visual Editor originally didn't operate on this font and size - the user interface had always been in (I believe) Georgia font and larger size.

If that is the theme's editor stylesheet, the question is why wasn't it like this just a week or so ago but is now?

I've been using Ambiru ever since 2008 and the editing interface has always been the same (except that one week about 1.5 years ago) and right now.

I wouldn't have minded the smaller font but I can't physically see the words because of my need to wear bifocals. So you see the difficulty I'm having.

Any ideas?

As the OP pointed out, the problem is that the font used in the Visual Editor is now much smaller than the actual font on the front page of the theme itself. Unfortunately, too late, I see that this is the font used in single posts.

As you pointed out not all themes have this, but the font size in the Visual Editor will make Ambiru more difficult to work with. Just my 2¢.

Ah, that's the theme's editor stylesheet. It adds the same font and size in the editor so you can get a better idea of what the finished post will look like.

Not all themes have this.

Meantime as a workaround, you can enter your text in the Text Editor, as it seems to have a relatively normal font size.

I'm using Chrome and just switched to Ambiru, the theme you are using, on my test site and tried writing a new post and Ouch! No kidding. Tiny, tiny font in the Visual Editor.

I don't wonder if there's an effort to make the Visual Editor reflect the post in preview, but if so, there's a significant difference in the font size.

I'm going to tag this for Staff attention and we'll just have to wait patiently until they can get back to us.

No change to zoom level - I checked that and other variable settings before posing the question here.

It wasn't the zoom level because the rest of the other elements on the screen remained intact (the same). Only the text font INSIDE the editing box has become very small.

I enabled/disabled/re-enabled Java, Flash, all my browser plugins one by one - you name it, I've done it.

Same problem on all the browsers - Firefox (my default), Chrome, Opera and Internet Exploder. I don't have a mobile phone high end enough for web browsing, so that's out of the picture.

I'm really stumped. It's happened once before about 1.5 years ago. It came and went away after two or three weeks like influenza.

Any possibility that you've accidentally changed the browser's "zoom" level? You can usually reset it by hitting Ctrl+ 0 on PC's.

In editing mode using the Visual Editor, the fonts have become very small and no longer in the default style.

This problem has started about a week ago. Clearing browser caches, switching browsers, etc, have not solved the problem.

I'm completely unable to determine whether this has been a glitch in the WordPress.com platform or something related on my end.

The output (the published words) are unaffected. The problem with the overly small fonts exists only during pre-publication.

I wouldn't have minded too much if the fonts have become smaller, but I wear bifocals and can't read the fonts on screen when it's become so small.

Any ideas or workarounds deeply appreciated.

The serif font on that theme has this font stack:
Sylfaen,Georgia,"Times New Roman",Times,serif

The sans-serif font on that theme has this font stack:
Tahoma,Verdana,Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif

It's the only thing I need to know. It doesn't say in the theme information, but I need to tell someone what the font is and I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Previously all categories and tags we assigned to our posts redirected to the WordPress.com global tags pages. Only the links displayed by Tags and Categories widgets directed to content in our own blogs. Well that feature you refer to violated accessibility guidelines. As all links ought to direct to the target indicated by what the link says. It should not be dependent on where the link is located. In August Staff have now fixed the Categories and Tags links do they direct correctly to the content found only in our own blogs. The posts are still appearing on the global tag pages unless there are reasons for them to be "missing".

I have a question to which I would love someone to have the answer! In the past when I posted a poem, catogorized and tagged it, once publised I was able to hit uopn any the the tags or categories and be brought directly to that page to view my posting and other writers that have also posted. This feature is not functioning at present and I have no idea as to why, please help!

Pages and posts are different. Pages sit outside the blog structure and we cannot assign Categories to them nor can we post to them. We can only Assign Categories to posts. Also until we actually publish a post with a Category assigned to it there is no data that can be displayed on the Category pages.

What’s critical is:
(1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts
(2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, but we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or custom links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. Hi,
I'm new to this blog thing.
I've created categories that appear in the menu (they actually seem to BE the menu). Now I'd like to write pages , and then put those pages in one of the categories, so that peope can click on the category they're interested in and find the articles inside it. How do I do that? When I create a page, it just seems to be lost and I can't find any button or anything to say "move to folder " or something like that.

CSS can get pretty tricky like that. Specificity and inheritance are good rules to learn.

Also, you should try Firebug on Firefox or the inspector tools in other browsers if you haven't already! http://getfirebug.com/
