I'm starting a forum serving several topic groups, and will be pointing to the forums from other sites. I am a noob but I think what I need are "anchor tags" in the background. What I want is to have unique url's so that the forum labeled "Rv's" will show at the top of page the same when someone wants to go to the "survival" forum. For reference the site is http://obsessionforum.com
Thanks

What is the code so I can do that with the id tag? It would be way too much effort to insert it around some text. I have 700 and some to change! I just want to paste them in, change the number and move on.

Also, am I going to have to change anything with the links that go to the anchors?

I think I've found the solution. The "name" attribute is not supported in HTML 5. Instead of "name" use the "id" attributes. It's a pity that WordPress HTML validation code just removed "name" instead of replacing it with "id".
Use
<a id="jumphere">Here</a>
instead of
<a name="jumphere">Here</a>

Before worrying about this you should start worrying about other things.

First, your page takes too long to load, because it's displaying around a hundred linking images: for a visitor with a slow connection, the browser may even time out before loading all the images, and then the visitor will see nice empty spaces instead of the images. If you're thinking of publishing more posts and adding more image links to them on this page, the page will soon become impossible to use. My suggestion: either publish each section as a separate page, or use the nextpage tag to split it into a series of numbered subpages, one for each section; see here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/nextpage/
(You can see that idea in action if you visit my blog and click on the top menu tabs.)

Second, the layout of the page is messed up, and so are the sizes of many of the images. The code of the images includes wrong (as well as unnecessary) stuff: a) The text you add inside the title attribute is the text that shows up when you hover over the image. Since the image itself includes the title, the title attribute is superfluous. b) Since the images should be displayed in real size, all the width and height indications are also superfluous.
So you need to prune the image codes. For example, instead of this:

<img class=" wp-image-3011 alignleft" title="MUSTARD TIGHTS" src="http://luluabroad.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/mustard-tights.jpg?w=230&h=43" alt="" width="230" height="43" />

all you need is this:

<img class="alignleft" src="http://luluabroad.files.wordpress.com/2012/02/mustard-tights.jpg" />

There is only one dynamic page in a blog that displays all of our posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. When we publish a post that post automatically appears on the Categories page and in the Archives as well. Although there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have done that by setting up a custom menu and displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation menu. http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/06/30/posts-on-pages/ Instructions > custom menus > http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

What you want to do is create a website structure and that means you will have to create a custom menu. Staff have provided this support documentation entry for those who want to structure their blog like a website. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/using-wordpress-to-create-a-website/ What’s critical is to understand when creating a website structure is the differences between pages and posts. http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

Hi,
I'm looking to add a link from the home page to posts on other pages. For example, how do I link the "broken leg diaries" on the home page to the full post that's on the page "writing and what not" I've tried 'read more' but it doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas?!
