Hi everybody! I need help with my WP Theme. In my articles I use only attached images. So I made a product slider that automatic load images from attach to this product slider.
To display image I use:
ID, array(350, 250)); ?>

But this function also create some div-elements in which the image is displayed. So I can't do just add a needfull class to image as jQuery zoom plugin requires. Can anybody help me? I just want to use some of these zoom plugins.

That's too bad because the attachment page is a very cool feature that you don't find on many other blogging supports!

What's the point to have it if you cannot link a gallery photo to it ! And what's the point at having a description box if it doesn't appear anywhere?

The introduction of the Carousel has messed up getting to the Attachment page easily. At the moment, you'll have to instruct your visitors that they can comment on images by clicking on the permalink that appears under each image in the Carousel.

FWIW-when the Carousel was introduced in November last year, and the forums filled up with threads from upset users mentioning that people could no longer comment on their photos or see the photo descriptions, Staff told us that this was the first iteration of the Carousel and that changes would be coming. We're still waiting.

The only way you can really do this is to have each photo in its own post. There isn't a way for each photo to have its own comments thread otherwise.

If you give a photo a caption then that will show up when it's inserted into your post, either as a thumbnail or as a larger size, depending on the option you choose. The viewer just won't see that description in the gallery.

Or can I replace the gallery shortcode by something that would show the pictures from this gallery, without the gallery format ?

I'm sorry but there is no way to disable the carousel at this point in time. The only way to disable the carousel is to not use it. In other words, do not use the [gallery] shortcode. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#gallery-shortcode

Clicking "Permalink" in the Carousel view takes you to wherever the thumbnail used to (either the full image file or attachment page with comments). http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/can-i-turn-off-image-carousel-in-the-piano-black-theme?replies=2#post-741040

The Caption box is for the text that appears directly beneath the image in the carousel.
The Description box is for the text that appears in the Permalink.

Hi everyone,

I just registered on WordPress.com in order to write a blog about my trip in Bangkok.
I'm already glad because I found out how to insert a gallery and a slideshow! Haha

But, I would like my gallery to link at the attachment page so then readers can comment on each photo individually. Instead it just links the picture to a bigger size (carousel?) but my concern is that (1) you don't see the description of the picture, and (2) you cannot comment on the picture. You can see what I mean by going on this page here.

Regarding the setting, I could change the settings either to "link the miniatures to picture file" or to "attachment page", clicking on the miniature always links to this carousel.

Can someone please help me?

Can you tell us exactly what it is you are trying to do? Are you trying to import from a self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com or trying to import your WordPress.com site to a self-hosted site?

Ok on one of my sites i have default wordpress gallery but in front end when i click on thumbnail it goes to attachment page which is ok but i dont see the image on other site it works fine. I tried to disable all plugins but the problem still exists. I noticed in mozilla bug that <p class='attachment'> is missing from that page. I also checked in post-template.php and post-thumbnail-template.php i have this class. Does anyone know what can be the problem? Thank you

this looks like a bug in WordPress import on WP.com -

* WP.com blog A has a post with 1 attached image
* export the blog to WordPress XML (WXR) format
* import it to WP.com blog B, marking "download attachments"
* you'll have under Media 2 copies of the image

same file imports OK on self-hosted WP.org (3.0.5)

ALSO - only image src= URL in post that has the image attached to gets updated to new URL during import, if the image is not attached to post, old URL remains (again, self-hosted 3.0.5 seems to replace image URLs in all posts during import)

@phazei:

a) We often provide such links, but you can easily find other threads a user has started or posted in if you click "Member" under the user's username.

b) The other thread doesn't answer the question of the title of this one because in the meantime mattandsasha had solved their problem (my remark above was posted after they reported the good news).

c) To answer the question: you can attach an unattached image, but you cannot un-attach an attached one, so you cannot re-attach it to another post. To attach it to the other post, you have to upload it to that post.

PS Speaking of forum policies, we always need a link to your blog when you ask a question (as mentioned in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting).

So, if an media image is attached to one post, how can you attach it to a different post instead?
