I'm having trouble activating the Jetpack plugin — downloaded and installed, then clicked 'connect to wordpress.com', then logged in fine, then clicked authorise.. and when I return I get this message

Your Jetpack has a glitch. Something went wrong that’s never supposed to happen. Guess you’re just lucky: client_secret
Try connecting again. You need to register your Jetpack before connecting it.

I have tried disabling all plugins (including w3tc cache).

I've installed the compatibility plugin and happy to send the output if needed to anyone official here.
