AutoFocus’ prominent single post featured images, which when set manually are placed front and center, above your post’s title and content. The maximum width of single post featured images is 800.

If you don’t see the Featured Image module on your Add New or Edit Post page, please make sure you’ve selected Featured Image in your Screen Options.

AutoFocus responds to not only single image posts but also full galleries. If you would prefer to forego a large featured image above your post content and instead showcase an entire set of photos then simply insert a gallery into your post without manually setting a featured image.

Main page and archive pages on Autofocus don't rely on featured images. Featured images have to be set manually to each post. Each post on the main page and on category/archive pages will display a regularly inserted image (provided the image had been uploaded via the Add Media button of that post).

The only difference is when you view a single complete post: regular image shows below the post title, max width 590px, featured image shows above the post title, max width 800px.

Hi, we are using the Auto Focus theme and on the main page where there are thumbnails of all posts, the main pictures are not shown and we don't know why.
I tried to convert the first pic from JPG to png that helped at the first sight, but next day, even png pictures are hidden and we have no idea why. Please, could you help me?

What causes the blank first picture?

We are starting to be despered. :-( Thank you!

Hi,

I am trying to find out how to fit featured images into the main page's/home page's image boxes that thread every new post.

Is there any positioning or cropping to fit the image neatly?

if there was a photo of a wall with a graffiti for example, how would I get the focus on the graffiti? (it rather is on the wall... )

Hi,

I am having difficulty with the same issue. I have recently imported my blog from tumblr and had to manually select feature image. When I did this and went back to the home page I noticed all of the images looked distorted and were aligned in an awkward way (i.e. corner of the image) I would like the images to be in full like this site has

Hi there,

It appears that you're using the Hatch theme on your blog. However, I'll still answer your question about AutoFocus. :)

AutoFocus will resize your thumbnails depending on their position on the grid. Uploading large photos that are at least 800px wide will give you the best results. If you'd like me to go into more detail, let me know!

I for some reason cannot locate how to properly size my photos that will be displayed on the home page of the Auto Focus theme...can somebody please let me know what I'm missing. Thanks!

I wish to insert images which will appear on the front page of my blog, so when you click on them, it will take you into the blog post, however won't be featured within the post? I'm using the 'auto-focus' theme and it currently displays the date on the 'header' of each post.

I LOVE YOU and that is w/o the influence of all the sugar I just ate as a result of stress!

I thought that in Reading - 1 post per page meant - per post page as they reference the home page as an individual entity.

Only the most recent post will show because you've set the theme to display one post per page. Go to Settings > Reading and change that.

For one month I have attempted to add imagery to the Auto Focus home page as shown on the online template w/o success. Only the most recent image will show pushing off the prior images to a different page. I have used insert/add media button selecting featured image. I have sized correctly and chosen within read post the most recent image. I have attempted reloading the template and nothing works.

I am very annoyed because I do not receive a response to my support email. I would hate to give up on Word Pres so I thought I would try this.

I hope you can help.

WordPress.com does not allow you to upload plugins and widgets. You would need to setup WordPress software downloaded from WordPress.org and installed on a separate hosting account if you would like to have full control over the code. Go to http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ to learn more about the differences.

On WordPress.com:

In the AutoFocus theme, widgets are only displayed on pages, not posts or the home page. You can add a tag cloud to page from the Appearance → Widgets page in your blog dashboard.

You can add Twitter updates to pages using the Twitter widget.

One way to add a calendar is to embed a Google Calendar.

WordPress.com doesn't have an Instagram widget, but that is a good suggestion.

If you do want all of those things and you want to be able to place them on the home page or the posts, then you would need to use a separate hosting account so you can get the customization control you need.

Hello.

I have the theme Auto Focus by Allan Cole for my new blog. I love it - but would like a little more feautres on the 'blog' pages. When I do a blog, I would like to tag clouds, twitter updates and instagram pics etc to be able to be viewed on the side like on the ABOUT page (and others) up the top.

Do you understan what I mean? I am happy to pay for customisation I just have no idea where to start??

oh and also, how to i add plug-ins/widgets for things like instagram, a calander etc
