Hello there,
We cannot edit templeates and themes on free hosted wordpress.com blogs. Not all themes are designed to provide an author profile and byline. Only a few display an author profile below each post; most themes do not. In themes that are coded to provide the aothor profile below each post that dat is drawn from here > Users > My Profile > About you

Regardless of the theme, bylines will only display now if there are at least two authors who both have at least one published post in the blog.

I am trying to add an author bio section automatically to each new post.
Is there a way of doing this?

For example, I want a "by David Silva" inserted automatically with a link to my about page.

Post sliders--got it! Thanks. I found the instructions and have been plugging away.

One last question: the Home page doesn't show up in the list of pages. How does one make edits (like renaming it) on the Home page?

Thanks for the quick reply--much appreciated!

I'm not clear. I guess I need to make sure I'm using the right terminology. On the "sample" page of a theme in the theme directory, is the changing image called a slider? For example, the Forever theme seems to rotate three images. (I'm guessing it's called a slider because it looks like a slide show.)

The Skylark theme also changes images. Whatever that function is, I'd like to make it work. So, my first question is: where are the instructions to do so?

My other newbie question is: is there a glossary of terms somewhere?

You've helped me before and I've seen you give lots of answers to others--I hope you can help me again!

There isn't a way to change the post slider in the Forever theme version at WordPress.com to advance the slider automatically, and CSS editing cannot be used to change how any theme functions. It can only be used to alter appearance. These are the some themes we have that have post sliders http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/ Only four themes that I know of have a featured post slider that automatically advances Debut, Currents, On Demand, Modularity Lite. (the first 3 are premium themes) and the last one is a free theme.

I have a similar question, but about Skylark. I switched to that theme because it seems to have a slider, but I can't get it to work. Are there instructions anywhere?

While searching the themes, I saw another (Forever) that also has an automatically changing image. Is there a way to search for these without having to look at all 190 themes?

I was wondering if there's anything I can do to make the slider on the home page of my blog (using the theme Fresh and Clean currently) change automatically so I see one post featured first, and then it changes to the next one, showing the featured image for that second blog. On the theme Skylark works just this way –without me having to do anything. Is there any option I have to click/ way around to work this out?

Hi there,

we're a business-blog posting 4-5 posts per day which are mostly automatically posted (works fine most of the time)

but sometimes (i can't figure out when or why this happens) posts getting unpublished (return to "draft") after they we're visible (published)...

any suggestions? where could i start with debugging?

i'd be so happy if any of you could help me cause this is really freakin' me out!!

Hello,

I am wanting to change my username from ambergobers to amberlouthan and thus, changing the blogs address.

The result gives you several options but none of them suggest that the old page will redirect to the new blog because we don't have access to the meta tags nor do we have access to the code (to insert a php redirect).

If I choose:
"Change ambergobers.wordpress.com to match my new username and discard the old address"

... will the old address forward to the new address?

If I choose:
"Change ambergobers.wordpress.com to match my new username and create an empty blog with the old address"

... how can I put in an auto-redirect script/meta refresh/whatever into the old address to redirect everyone to the new address?

If you WERE hosted here it would be a bad idea because staff have been known to drop people off the global tag pages for doing things like that, particularly if they are the only ones using those tags

The search engines see you title just fine when they crawl your blog (it's one of the first things they will look at). They don't have to be reminded of the title in the tags.

Despite some bad yet oft-repeated advice from SEOs, this is not a good idea. Nor is it possible at WordPress.com. And, of course, we can't use plugins here.

I would like to have the title of the post automatically added to the tags. I have many existing posts that do not have the title as a tag currently. Is there a plugin or something that can do this? also, do it for future posts that i make too?

I strongly agree with hallluke. If I enter a blog and I'm blasted with music I didn't choose to hear I click out and never ever return again. You may want to consider that most people in this world wish to choose their own music and providing them an opportunity to make a choice rather than making it for them is a much wiser thing to do.

and I´m so grateful for all your help... I´ve said it before: I have never seen anything like this, I used to pay for a web and these people took always a week to answer me whaterver.

about the searchs... I always use to do them before ask... but regarding to the audio player... I have been several times in http://en.support.wordpress.com/audio/
but not then not now I can see anything related to play automatically the player.
