I'm trying to create a post and it won't show the visual editing toolbar. I have to do all the html formatting and the 'Read More' tool is nowhere to be found on the screen. Also, the visual input box will only show white text. I actually had to edit everything on html. Once I published my post, there's no way to edit or update because no changes will show, meaning that even though I edited or added more elements, the original post would keep on showing once I clicked on the update button. Is there a glitch or bug going around that I don't know? Is wordpress partially down for maintenance? I need help!

Hi there -after giggling at my title I can now get serious!!

At present, the frontend and backend of my site comes up with HPPT 500 error, which I am sure has occured due to some playing about I was doing with codes in my backend..
What happenned was, I have a plugin installed called Jigoshop, but the page layout does not conform with the rest of my site. So, I was looking at code patterns in the main stylesheet of the website and found a particular bit of coding i thought might work.. So I copied this, and then pasted it into the Jigoshop coding. As soon as I clicked Update, the screen went white with the HTTP 500 message.

It has been confirmed by my host, that it is due to something in WordPress, not his server being down, so I am DESPERATE to get into the backend so I can, if nothing else, deactivate the Jigoshop.. My website has been offline for days now, and I am trying desperately to get back in...

I need someone from WordPress itself I am guessing, who can go in from their server end on my behalf to my site, and sort this mess out.. If it's not even loading up the login page for me (HTTP 500...) then this is all I know as an alternative -Can you help???

Many thanks for your time...

Mrs T

I have been asked to change the appearance of the backend pages regarding creating/editing new posts.

This affects the following files.. (as far as I can tell)

post-new.php

post.php

edit.php
I have been able to successfully "theme" or style these pages to reflect the front end design. Now here is my problem:

Whenever a user views the "post-new.php" page or "edit.php", they are able to do whatever they need (i.e. make a new post, or edit an existing post). Upon clicking "update post" from the edit.php page, or upon clicking "submit" from the post-new.php page they are redirected through post.php, which will typically show them their post and what they have just done or something similar. Instead however they are getting this error:

</p>
<p>Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /public_html/toolbox/wp-admin/post.php:8) in /public_html/toolbox/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 897</p>
<p>

(notwithstanding this error, their new post or edited post still takes effect and actually works)

Typically I understand that this problem is usually a result of white space or something else being placed before the opening php tag.

On the post.php, I expressed that this was a page that needed to be "themed" to reflect the front end. So naturally there is html before the <!--?php.

What do I need to do to get around this?

So ultimately..
How can I theme the post-new.php and edit.php page to reflect the frontend?

Thanks!

Just a guess, but due to the release date being pushed back by at least two weeks, I would not look for it here at .COM until after the first of the year.

Probably related to this thread.

My primary blog is
jeremyvisser.wordpress.com
, which I don't blog on, but simply use it for OpenID and my Akismet API key.

I am an Install4Free team member, and the blog is located at
install4free.wordpress.com

My username (
jeremyvisser
) is associated with both
jeremyvisser
and
install4free
blogs.

However, just now, when I went to the dashboard of
install4free
, it still displayed the "Jeremy on WordPress.com" blog title (when it should have showed "Installing WordPress for Free"). When I went to the main site, the content of Install4Free was showed, but with my theme and blog title.
