Do you have the Custom Design upgrade? What browser and version are you using>?

The other question i have is when i am trying to customise the layout it just loads up with a blank screen and loading design tools on the right and it seems to have frozen! Its been like that all morning?

You can link to your instagram page via a Custom Menu, it's very easy and that also lets you change the order the pages come up in the header. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Over a year ago I opened an account and made two blogs (zendegiphotography.wordpress.com and zendegi23.wordpress.com) I wanted the latter as a personal blog and the former for my business. I bought the $99 bundle package (stupid for my needs) and could have sworn I did it for the photography site. I went to upgrade (expired for 70 days now) and it says it can't find the blog. I'm not sure if it's because I deleted the zendegi23 one today but could have sworn it wasn't working even before I did that. I went to upgrade to own zendegiphotography.com and it says it is already taken, leading me to believe somehow it was tied to the wrong one from the start? I have no idea anymore. I clicked on "I already own it" and paid $13 to upgrade but wasn't sure I was doing the right thing so got a refund immediately. I didn't want to be locked-in to WP hosting.

What I want to do is:
Have my site hosted elsewhere so that I can upload any template I desire (which I gather is not allowed when WP hosts it, only basic and premium allowed, correct?). However, I want to use WP to handle my posting as it seems the easiest way.
I thought I should delete the photography one and start over but I know you're not allowed to reclaim used addresses, so I'm not rashly acting on that.

Ideally I can find a host (any recs welcome!!), buy the domain, properly go about having it mapped to WP (the .wordpress one?), and smooth sailing by blogging from here. Just don't want to make any irreversible mistakes or buy the wrong upgrades, please help! Thanks VERY much!

My Menu bar at the top runs in reverse order, right to left. It is also aligned right. I like the right alignment, but I want the links to come up in proper order, not in reverse (ie. I want it to read "HOME PICTURES" etc etc), not in reverse.

There are two approaches you can use. This first one is when you only have Pages.
1. Page Order - Page attributes module order numerically rather than alphabetically.

2. This second approach is for those who have created a custom menu and have added pages and/or other items such as custom links and dynamic categories pages to that custom menu.

order them http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#changing-the-order-of-menu-items-and-creating-sub-menus

If you have a custom menu then you must establish consistency. Check the Pages sub-pages themselves to see if you have established a Parent page and child page “hierarchical structure” in the page attributes module. Remove if required.

Also remove any “order” numbers you have assigned that may conflict with the order you are creating by dropping and dragging. Or simply change them so they are the same order as you establish in the menu. Establish consistency – problem solved

I opened a wordpress.COM account and created my blog from there. I then upgraded to Pro so I could get custom designing and register my own domain, at the .com address listed.

Somewhere on a forum I now read that for full control of your blog, I would have to have used wordpress.ORG, and then downloaded something (I don't know exactly what) and then start from there. I'm NOT an IT guy, so that way would be a little too confusing for me. So I'm ok with using wordpress.COM instead. I'm just worried that I really screwed myself out of any major customization because of choosing this route.

I did it and it looks great.

Just one small query please - it has now underlined EVERY single link - included post titles, tags, authour etc.
I'd like it to just underline the links in the content of posts and pages. Most importantly I'd like the titles of posts to remain not underlined.

Could you please help with this?

Thank you both for your help. I wanted to change this in all my text, content, pages, posts but my CSS code I cant fight a:link - I only have this when referring to my flickr widget.

To underline all links in the content areas of post and pages in the Liquorice theme, add this to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor:

You can make it little transparent with the following snippet. The last value, 0.9 means 90%. Change the last value to your liking.

I am using the Sight theme and I am having a little trouble implementing custom menus. Right now my menus are via "pages" but I want the about menu not to link the ABOUT only the child menus. Can someone help me better understand how to work with Custom Menus? The WP support page isn't very detailed, ya know?

Also is there way to make the main white field a little transparant without CSS? or if only with CSS then how?

You can customize the appearance of your wp.COM site with the CSS part of your value bundle, but you should be sure of the differences between .com and .org before you begin.

* I'm not a coder! I just signed up for the wordpress value bundle, mapped a domain, and wanted to start customing the home page.

I cannot see "Theme options" under my Appearance menu. I want to start customising the home page within my Hero Theme (as per here: http://themetrust.com/knowledgebase/getting-started-with-hero), but it's referring me to a Theme Options menu, and I don't have it? I have 'Themes', 'Widgets' & 'Menus' - but no option to get stuck into that home page banner and start editing it (via 'Theme options')

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

In your case Search the file for a:link, a few lines below it you will see tex-decoration: none; change none to underline;

I just wanted to chime in because I wanted to point out something that I didn't think of. At first I was getting frustrated because when I refreshed my page the underline was still there.

I'm running the W3 Total Catch Plugin (by the way I highly recommend it for speeding up site load time). I went to the plugin settings and purged all cache. Went to my site and the no underline was visible.

As always save your original file to backup before making changes incase something breaks. :)

If so, add that line to your css box choosing the color you want. Adding the css command to the CSS box will apply it to all your links in your text area.

If you just want the underline, use this just part:

.entry a {text-decoration: underline;}

You can try it out using the preview mode in your CSS.

Changing the color to taste and choose to add the text-decoration or not.

If you want to change the link colors and underline in other parts of your website, post here just which ones you want to change, such as menu, widgets or wherever so we can help you with the selectors to use.

I am new toe CSS and all I'd like to do is automatically change all the appearance of my links by either underlining or changing the colour without having to do it manually every time.

Is there an easy way to do this or do I need to apply to each link.

Connection to Internet/Wordpress: Cable (My at-home Internet connection is via cable, though at the time this problem occurred, I was at a coffee shop, using their Wi-Fi network. Not sure if that's relevant.)

Yes, the missing images are all ones I uploaded from my computer into WordPress. The sidebar picture (under "Currently Reading") never disappeared. That photo was not uploaded from my computer. Instead, that one was identified via a website. I right-clicked on the image from the Goodreads website and copied the photo information/location into the Image widget.

Yes, all the images (except for the sidebar image, which I did not upload to WordPress) are appearing in my Media Library.
