NOTE: Only some themes are designed to display an author byline http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/08/15/author-displayed-or-not/
Regardless of the theme, bylines will only display now if there are at least two authors who both have at least one published post in the blog. The workaround you can use for displaying an author byline on a single author blog is found here and will work only if the theme is deigned to display an author byline at all. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2012/01/03/wordpress-com-changes-bylines-for-authors/

Is there a way to move my bio, archives, twitter feed, etc. from the bottom of a pre-set theme to the left side margin of my blog instead?

Because of how the Book Lite theme is purposely designed to be a one column layout and because of how its structure was setup by the theme designer, there is not a simple way to move the widgets from the bottom of the theme to the left. It's not impossible, but it's definitely an in-depth change, and you should note that you may need to do some additional work and spend some time to get it right if you want to delve into it. I work on it for a little while and came up with something to start:

#main,
#colophon {
	max-width: 980px;
	position: relative;
}
#main article,
#comments {
	float: right;
	width: 750px;
}
#secondary {
	width: 200px;
	position: absolute;
	top: 55px;
}
#secondary #first,
#secondary #second,
#secondary #third {
	width: 100%;
}
.site-info,
#infinite-handle {
	padding-left: 230px;
}
.custom-background #main,
.custom-background #masthead,
.custom-background #colophon {
	background-color: inherit;
}

Note that it makes a fundamental shift in the structure of the theme. I floated some elements, and I wasn't sure how to keep the white background together with the floats, so I got rid of the background. You could keep it the way the example has it which is no separate content area background color or you could change the entire background color to white.

You can try the example out by adding it to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor and clicking the Preview button. Note that you can adjust any of the numbers to see how things are moved around.

First, that's not a wp.com blog. Second, in wp.com themes that do display the author profile below each post, the profile is only displayed if the authors have entered some info in their Personal Settings.

But what you should be more concerned about is the pages of the blog linked to your username: they take too long to load because you've got too many (30?) posts per page with too many images and videos. For visitors with a slow connection, the browser will time out long before loading all that stuff, and the visitors will see nice big empty spaces instead. If you aren't interested in visitors from the NASA headquarters only, you should limit the number of posts per page to only a few (in Settings>Reading) and use the read-more tag to truncate your posts.

Hi everyone,

I've noticed that some blog contributors are able to remove the "author bio" box from the end of their post. I'm not sure how they have done this because they are not admins in the blog. For example, this post and this post do not have an author bio and their bio is tacked in on the end of their post. While this post DOES have an author box.

How does one remove the author box if you are not an admin? Is there a way to do it by adding html code?

I'm kind of a newbie so please don't be too technical in your answer.

Thanks!

@anniesabarte
IMHO there is no single best way to get traffic. Any advice we give you is dependent upon what you have already done to get traffic.

(1) Is your blog structured and optimized in a reader and search engine friendly manner (basic SEO)?
(2) In blogging content is king, hence, it's the draw to your site. Have you created pillar posts (flagship content) that has timeless value and brings back readers again and again?
(3) Do you write well and publish regularly. Keeping your blog updated with fresh and informative content will maintain reader interest.
(4) Do you deep link to your earlier posts in your recent posts and use correct anchor text to do so?
(5) Are you looking for organic (unpaid) traffic or are you willing to pay for inorganic traffic?
(6) In blogging, content is king and promotion is queen. Have you joined Twitter, online groups in your niche, social networks and promoted your posts in them after publishing them?
(7) Do you reply to every comment?
(8) Do you link to your reader's related blogs and keep your blogroll updated?
(9) Do you comment, comment, comment?
(10) Do you subscribe to the feeds of related blogs?
(11) Do you backlink to posts published by faithful readers wherever possible?
(12) Have you created relationships with other bloggers? Increasing traffic is the natural consequence of relationship building. The search link is on every BC page. You ca use it and type your blog categories and tags into it. The results will provide you with links to related blogs. Visit them, read posts & leave meaningful comments in order to build relationships with other bloggers.
(13) Do you encourage your blog readers to comment?
If you wish you can read and act on the twenty five steps in the following post to increase organic blog traffic http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2009/01/15/twenty-five-steps-to-increase-blog-tra...

Hope this helps. :)
