OK like I drag and drop 3 or 4 pics into a post or a page and 1 of 2 things happens: either the entire post disappears (I go to publish or update and it shoots a blank..no txt no pics no nuthin) or it converts the image to a small default icon...NOT the image. I'm stuck. Is it the particular skin/theme cuz i'll change it.

It sounds like you have a browser issue. Please try clearing your browser cache and cookies.
Which browser and browser version are you using?
You can upgrade any outdated browser version here.
Have you tried a different browser to see if the issue is browser related?

My latest post titled "renewal" has a couple of typos I want to fix. I click "edit" at the top of the post and it takes me to a blank box, complete with actual word count of 500 something. I can't see the text to fix it. Help?

Thanks for the ideas! I did end up saving this separately while trying to troubleshoot the issue. I think I have figured out the issue. For some reason there was an issue with some of the images I was using, which I had pasted into the post rather than uploading them and inserting them as .jpgs. When I did upload the images as .jpgs and inserted them that way (rather than just pasting them in) I did not have this issue at all. I hope this helps others! If you're having this issue, check your images!

Lots of people are reporting this issue. Until it is fixed across WP.com do this:

1) Clear your browser cache and cookies and do a full restart of the computer. This seems to help prevent it from happening.

2) Use an offline blog editor like Blogdesk or Ecto OR

3) When you write a post, before hitting Publish go to Select All text in the Write box, then, while it's still selected, Copy All, then while it's STILL selected, hit Publish. That's a very old trick that used to force WP to preserve the text. If the text vanishes anyway, you've got it on your clipboard and can just paste it in. If even pasting it doesn't work, you can save it as a Word doc and then later just do a paste from Word.

I was using Firefox. When I tried it in Explorer, I had the same issue. Is there a different browser I should be using? I used Firefox for the other posts (30 so far) with no issue. Any other ideas? Thanks!

I've been having this issue for several days. When I finish a post and click "publish" the post is published with no text or pictures. The post is completely blank. I have also been having a similar issue when I click "save draft"--the post text disappears! I looked back at previous discussion of this problem and tried clearing my cache and cookies, but this hasn't helped. Any ideas?

I designed a wordpress theme for a friend, I am currently getting a blank box when I click archives about the other posts. Looks like a blank post and what not.

Anyone had a similar issue? blog error is @ http://pugilismandthepen.com/?m=200903.

Before you hit Publish, always select all the contents of the Write box, copy all, THEN hit publish. As well, I hit the button when everything is still highlighted. That way if you check and it's missing, you can just paste it right back in. There was an old glitch where, if you clicked while things were still highlighted, it bypassed the problem entirely. This could be that old glitch coming back, so try this solution. Even if it doesn't prevent the problem, you've got a solution.

You might also want to use an offline blog editor like Blogdesk or Ecto or Windows Live Writer, all of which work really well with WP.com.

yup it happened to me countless times before,all i had to do was select everything and do a copy first before doing any other thing else.you dont wanna enjoy the luxury to rewrite everything again

I've had that happen from time to time. Sometimes the text can still be retrieved by hitting Back *immediately*. Other times, it's just ... gone. Damn technology!

After it had happened a few times, I tried to get in the habit of doing Select All of the post text before hitting Save.

Everything was fine yesterday... i wrote a post as usual, hit save and the textbox went blank.... the title was still there... i rewrote and hit Publish, was told My "post has been saved" then went to view site and saw title, tags....no text or pix! Checked Manage Posts and there it was... but its still blank! please help me or tell me this will not happen tomorrow! i have been mostly happy with WP till now...

It could be that it just righted itself somehow, or it could be that staff saw this thread and fixed it. Regardless, it's fixed so that is good.

I think your best bet would be to contact staff and let them know the ID on the post (since it does not have a name), along with your blog URL (starting with http:// and your user name and see if they can straighten it out for you.

The 0 at the bottom? I clicked it and it leads back to the home page and not a particular post. Hmm. Did you do your own css design? But I don't know.

It has an ID of 0, no name. When I attempt to edit, "You attempted to edit a post that doesn't exist. Perhaps it was deleted?".

That's with both the browser cache cleared an a forced cache refresh of the page.

What's the name of the post that will not delete or a link to it?

Does it show up in manage > posts? If so, can you click edit and edit it? If so, then try deleting it again.

If not, try clearing your browser cache and force reloading the page. If it does not show up under manage > posts, and force reloading does not make it go away, then try creating a new post with exactly the same name and deleting it. In some instances this has caused both to go away.
