ummm... I'm probably not explaining this. If you can view http://lbliveablog.wordpress.com/ look at look at kelpkutrs and sailingkathryn next to their names. What is the correct way to refer to that graphic?

I had one similar to that when I first created lbliveablog and would like to get it back rather that my current photo/gravatar.

I'm not clear what this has to do with visitors to your private blog. Did you know that your Gravatar.com account has always been a WordPress.com account? http://blog.gravatar.com/2013/04/03/gravatar-and-wordpress-com-together-forever/ You don’t have to be a WordPress user or blogger to register gravatar and it’s simple and free to do so.

If you want to change your gravatar/blavatar go here > Dashboard > Users > My Profile

ummm... forgot to mention that I did my due diligence, but neither of the two recommended resources seemed to address the issue, perhaps because I did not mention that the visitors to my blog do not have blogs of their own and are only visitors. However, for the purpose of visiting, they seem to get a symbolic graphic alongside their name.

When I first signed on to WP, the program automatically generated the blavatar graphic. Later on, at some point, I opted to change to a photo/gravatar. However, photos or self-created images stand out and have become problematic. Can I get the original, automatically generated graphic back?

The favicon is cached by the browser and the refresh rate varies depending on the browser.

You should see it eventually.

RIght now, it appears to be the side of an RV.

Is the favicon supposed to show up immediately? I uploaded a blog picture, and I see it in the WordPress header at the top of all pages, but it does not show up as the favicon. I have checked the HTML and it is still referencing the WP favicon. Do I have to hit another setting? Or wait a while?

Your Blog Icon is used as your favicon, and you can set that via Settings -> General in your blog's Dashboard.

I am pulling my hair out trying to add a favicon to my wordpress blog. I have several wordpress blogs and this site is the only one that I cannot add a favicon. Any suggestions?????

Ah, yes it could be that. Some corporate proxies are set up very strict.

I'm on my work PC and it goes through a corporate proxy so it could be related to that. I'll try from home later (after clearing the cache, etc.) and see how I go. Appreciate your support.

Yeah, I'm seeing it in Firefox and Safari, so I think you are good to go.

It could also be an issue with a misbehaving invisible proxy server at your ISP. They use those to speed up delivery of content and to lower their bandwidth usage, but sometimes the get messed up. Hopefully this will sort itself out in a day or two.

Tried clearing my cache and cookies then restarting IE several times. No luck. As long as it is working for others that should be good enough for now.

IE sometimes gets confused. I just checked your site and the first time I loaded it, the favicon did not show, but the second time I viewed it, the icon showed up (red "S" on a black background).

Log out, clear your IE cache and cookies, restart IE and take another look. With IE, sometimes you might have to do this twice. It can be stubborn. :)

Hi all,

I have a wordpress blog that is hosted by WordPress but I have mapped it to a custom domain (registered through dreamhost.com). I uploaded the blavatar months ago. It appears as the icon for the page in my dashboard but when I open the blog () in IE, it just shows the IE logo.

Any suggestions?

Thank you, I understand now that it was a change on WordPress' part, but I don't like it very much. Not that that really matters to all of you. I'll just move on and accept the change and decide if I'm going to get rid of my Gravatar picture and change it to my Blavatar. Only think I guess I can do. It hasn't been quite some time though. 2-3 months at most. When I got my business cards made and she designed something for my Blavatar to show in that space, it was only a few months ago and the Blavatar showed there then.

The WordPress.com Reader actually displays the Gravatar of the post's author.

It hasn't displayed the Blavatar in the stream for quite some time, but can still see the Blavatar at http://wordpress.com/#!/read/edit/

The reader shows the Gravatar of the person that wrote a particular post. This post appears in the topic pages overview. When clicking on the blog title next to the Gravatar, you'll end up on a page like: http://wordpress.com/#!/read/blog/id/38207490/

Here you see both the Blavatar with the Blog Title and Tagline, and below you'll see the latest posts of that blog.

I was wondering which, the Gravatar or Blavatar, is supposed to accompany posts when they are published on the topic pages? Previously, I had noticed it was the Blavatar, but more recently it seems to be my Gravatar. Does this mean that if I want that photo to change, I need to change my Gravatar? I understand why this would make sense on multi-authored blogs, but for one person writing a blog, it seems silly. I like my Gravatar to represent me both on and off of WordPress, while I thought the Blavatar was supposed to represent the blog itself and not the person.

I had previously asked this question and was told my Blavatar does show up in the forums, but I am specifically asking about the photo that runs next to the blog name on the topic pages. I have watched mine for several weeks now and it remains my Gravatar although I had made no changes to my account.
