There’s nothing more frustrating than discovering that all the time and energy you put into blogging a post was for nothing. Suppose you clicked the “save” or “publish” button and the post went sailing into cyberspace but was not captured in the database. It’s forever gone and now you must re-construct it.

There are several approaches one can take to insure they have back-ups of every post they publish. You will find them in this post:
Disaster Planning: Backups for Bloggers

I write everything on my Notepad and don't delete it until I see it on the front page. I've lost many things throughout the years due to browser shutting down and power outages. I lost so many things due to power outages or computer failure that I now click save on my Notepad every minute or so. It's become so natural and second hand to me now that it's normal and comes off easy with always clicking save.

Funny thing sometimes happens.

If click Dashboard--> Posts---> Edit-->
and click "edit" under the post name (in this case the post you lost when your broswer shut off)....

The "last revisions" which is the Autosave, doesn't always show up.

instead try:
dashboard --> Posts---> edit
click on the post Name (not the "edit" underneath)

scroll to the bottom of the editor page

you should see "Post Revisions"
click on that and you will find your autosaved copies in HTML form.

I'm not expecting anyone to really help me with this issue as I don't think it's directly related to WordPress.com, but I'm posting it anyways. I was writing a post and my browser shut down. I wasn't able to save what I was working on and when I restarted the browser and logged back in to WordPress.com, I found almost all but two short paragraphs (about the size of this one) wiped out. I didn't see an autosave anywhere. Unless there is some way that I could retrieve my supposedly lost work that I am not aware of, it seems I will have to rewrite what I have lost, which frustrates me.

Due to the nature of this posting, I'm not sure what section I should post this in either; I don't know if "off topic" is relevant or not.

My blog is private, but I'll include the URL anyway: http://ambrosiateaparty.wordpress.com/
