I know exactly what you are describing and I know Akismet Staff are who to contact. Why? Because every WordPress.com blog is equipped with Akismet. Automattic owns both WordPress.com and Akismet. The Akismet Staff are Automattic employees just as the WordPress.com Staff are Automattic employees.

What? This is a WordPress.com issue. WordPress delete of feedback correctly marked as spam is not working! That is what the issue is here. My spam feedback (correctly flagged and placed in spam by askimet), is not delete-able! I try to press delete and WP does not delete them.

Thx for the reply, but I am asking about feedbacks not comments.

I need to bulk delete feedback as they keep piling up and are not removed over time

You locate your Spam folder here > Comments > Spam

On the spam that Akismet catches you don't even have to click "empty spam" if you don't want to. Akismet will maintain comments it has caught for 15 days from the time they were received, and then it will delete the comment automatically.

If you get spam that slips by Akismet then mark it as spam (do not delete it) and over time Akismet will learn it's spam.

Hello All,

The spam feedback view really does not work well, I cannot filter or bulk delete either. I really wish there was a way to bulk delete spam feedback.

I tried setting screen options to 300 and then to 200 feedback and it still refuses to bulk delete. I have so much spam feedback (11K) - maybe that is the issue!

Please give me a way to delete all my spam feedback!

I'm trying to change my blog into more of a website with different pages, as far as I can tell, the easiest? way is to add category pages/tabs. So I want to put all my past blog posts into one category so they appear on the one page, then say have another page gallery, one for About etc...
I can't seem to find a bulk way to add the existing blog posts to a new category without editing each one individually? Is that just the case or am I overlooking something obvious?

Thanks for the ideas! The 'check for spam' button doesn't do anything for me, unfortunately (it can't load whatever page you go to when you click it), but increasing the # of comments per page will help.

If that doesn't work, you can also use the screen options (in the top right corner of the screen) to increase the number of comments that you see at once. That way you can at least delete more than 20 at a time.

Have you used the "Check for Spam" button on the pending comments page? Once they are identified as spam, you can get rid of them all at once by using the "Empty Spam" button.

Hi,

Is there a way to delete pending comments all at once, rather than doing it in groups of 20, page-by-page? A wordpress blog I work with has ~4000 pending comments, and they're all spam. It would be really nice to be able to delete them all in one bulk action. I've found lots of ways to do this on a wordpress.org site where you have more control, but nothing yet for wordpress.com sites.

You can change categories in bulk. I'm not sure about dates.

Dashboard >> Posts >> All Posts

Check the ones you want, then select Edit from the Bulk Cations dropdown menu.

Hi,

I've written about 300 posts and am almost ready to publish them (using the Imbalance 2 theme). But I'd like to set the date of all the posts to the same publication date next week. Is there a way to do this with a few clicks, or do I have to go into each one?

I'd like to change the Categories the same way, in one fell swoop. Is this possible without editing each?

But the only bulk action I see is to delete a category from the category list ... I want to assign an existing category to many existing blog posts ... at the same time.

No I'm sorry but that's not possible. You can invite people to follow your blog with an email invitation sent from your dashboard. You can enable the Follow Blog Widget so subscribers can receive your posts by email.

To add a category to several posts at once, you go to Posts > All Posts, tick the square to select the right posts, select Edit from the Bulk Actions pulldown, click Apply, select the desired category from the Categories box, click Update.
If the category isn't an already existing one, then first you need to go to Posts > Categories and create it.

Unfortunately you can't bulk remove a category from selected posts: you can only delete the category altogether (in Posts > Categories).

Pages are static. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will show on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

What’s critical is:
(1) a clear comprehension of the differences between pages and posts > http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/

(2) a clear comprehension of the fact that there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. But we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page. We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and add the categories into the custom menu.

A custom menu allows you to display Categories with drop-downs to sub-categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation where normally only Pages tabs are displayed. If you wish you can also include Pages with drop-downs to sub-pages and/or Tags pages and/or Custom Links in your custom menu as well. You are in charge of what appears in a custom menu. You choose the order in which to display any and/or all the foregoing in your custom menu. You choose which to display and which to hide.

If you do not want all the posts to show on the main page, then you can create a static front page for your site, and “blog” page for posts to display on.

Choice 1 static front page
Choice 2 all posts on front page.

Which do you choose? It’s one or the other.

If you choose Choice 1 static front page then you have to create two pages. One for the static front page which you can call anything you choose example “Welcome”, and one for the blog posts to appear on which you can call anything you choose example “Blog”. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/

i want to know if i can select multiple posts and have them move to a new parent folder?

new to blogging. i have my posts all showing up on main page and would like them organized into categories/ parent folders.

how can i do this without trashing all and restarting?

This is what I would do. On the comment list in the dashboard, click the checkbox to the left of each comment you want to approve. Then from the "bulk actions" pulldown, select "approve" and then click the "apply" button and it will approve all comments that you have selected.
