Could you start a fresh thread for this new issue? You can tag it "modlook" in the sidebar to the right (just type modlook into the tag area) to make sure a staff member sees it.

I've been wanting to blog since I don't know when. So, I finally joined wordpress and sat down to publish my first article and--there's a snag! In my article, I write " I noticed a posting for a mindfulness group on the wall" but in the final, published version it says "I not a posting...". No matter how many times I edit it it doesn't change. Really frustrating. Any ideas?

Hi there,

I see that you did manage to upload 8 versions of the image. Did you get this resolved?

One thing to keep in mind is that an image is uniquely named forever. So if you have an image uploaded and then delete it, no other image can have the same exact name. I'm not sure if this is what you're running into, but you should be able to add the image to your post and update the post without losing your likes and comments.

Just let me know if I didn't understand your problem correctly!

I had an image post on my blog entitled 'if someone breaks your heart' (my most recent one)
I noticed that the spelling of a word in the image was incorrect so I corrected it and then tried to upload the corrected image. The original has been deleted and now it wont let me upload a new image to that post. I can re-upload as a whole new post, but I would lose all the comments and 'likes'.
Why wont wordpress allow me to upload this new image. (I was able to upload a new image to this post 2 days ago_
Can you help me?

That's exactly what you're supposed to get.

but I want to see the pdf in the blog page. I used to be able to do this....

WP cannot display PDFs directly. If you wish to to do that, you need to upload the files to Scribd or Issuu then embed them in your page.

Well, I can't figure out why you wouldn't be able to upload it unless the file is too big, and it might be too big... I flagged it for staff attention

Check your blog's dashboard or look on the top of "Add Media" page and look for the storage counter.

A few months ago I could upload pdf and pptx files, now I can't.
After I select the file to upload, the grey bar appears, fills up, then the name of the file appears in the window on the right of the screen, but there is only the default image (mountains for pdf, pic of 2 files for pptx) in this window and in the main window. If I try to add that to my page, of course the file I want is not there.
I am following all of the instructions, my screen says I can upload pdf and pptx, the file size is small enough. What can I do?

I was creating a new blog entry on our server, where we self host WordPress. We have the latest verison of WordPress.

I was in the dashboard and inserted 3 SMALL file sized images about 80 KB each. I used the upload feature of the Dashboard, and it showed the % complete bar got o 100%, so I know it confirms uploading the photos.

But they don't show up in my blog, just broken image links. I tried it using both Explorer 9 and Firefox 10.0.2, and the same thing each time, the Dashboard says it uploaded the pics but they are not there.

When we check in the dashboard under MEDIA > LIBRARY we can see the 3 photos and details listed there, but the thumbnails ar enot showing up.

I have read these forums and it 50% of the time people solve this by changing their permissions on the upload directory to 7-5-5. Ours was already set tot hat, so were fine on permissions.

The other 50% of the time, people solve this in the dashboard by going to SETTINGS > MEDIA and in the "Uploading Files" section there is a field that says "Store uploads in this folder". We made sure the field already says this: wp-content/uploads with no quotes, no leading slashes or anything else. I know other people reported problems by having a leading slash.

As far as we are concerned, it should be all systems go, but yet it does not work.

So,,, we looked opn our server using FTP, and saw the images were not in the wp-content/uploads directory! We then FTP'ed the 3 images directly to the wp-content/uploads directory on our server, and that got the images to show up in our blog! Now the thumnails are showing up in the MEDIA > LIBRARY of the Dashboard.

My question is, why is WordPress showing the images upload with the progress completion bar, but then not putting the files there? This is very perplexing.

I think that you haven't understand what i mean with "can't do nothing". The problem is that WP is not saving the data that we submit to the server. No matter if it is posts, images, or other kind of files.

hmm, If I search for them that way I can find them, but they are not showing up as posts when I reload my site. I load up my blog and the last two posts are missing. they arent there as pages or posts and arent showing up when I search my archive on my blog, or on my manage page of my dashboard.. BUT when I type in wordpress"My Spoon not work" into google it finds them!
Any Ideas anyone?

Go to Google.com and search and in the search box put the names of your posts. If you want to be extra precise, put searchterm site:wordpress.com in the search box.

Try Google to see if they've got the cached versions of your files. If not, try Yahoo. If even Yahoo doesn't have it, you may be out of luck.

Until WP has the glitch resolved, you may wish to use an offline editor like Blogdesk or Ecto.

Im here for the same thing.
Ive just written two posts, published them, but now cant find the bloody things anywhere!!!!!!!!!!
Ive looked in my manage column, everywhere!
Must be a glitch if Im not the only one experiencing this.....

Don't now what is happening. I can't save my post and publish them, i can't upload images, cant edit, cant do nothing. OMG...

Would someone help me to solve this issue?
