I am trying to change the text on my blog's homepage (the one you see if you view it). If you would go to look at it, at the top of the page it says "4 out of 5 dentists reccommend this wordpress site". For the life of me, I can not figure out how to take that off...any help would be appreciated :)

Thanks for this. I was hoping not to have to create a static homepage but it's better than the option of having all posts appear on the front page.

I guess it must be possible to create a page where all posts appear and then hide it so that posts only appear by category. I'll try that.

Thank you again for your help.

There are many common errors, misunderstanding and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

it shows all posts in publication order.

Pages are static and are for content that rarely changes. They sit outside of the blog structure and you cannot post to multiple pages in any blog. There is only one main page for posts in a blog and all posts will display on the main blog page. There is no way to exclude posts from the main posts (blog) page.

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. This order cannot be chnaged. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page "Welcome" for your site and a “Blog” page for posts. (Use any page titles you wish to replace "Wlecome" and "Blog".

Choice 1 static front page
Choice 2 running page for all posts on front page

Which do you choose? It’s one or the other.

If you choose Choice 1 static front page then you have to create two pages as I said above. After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.

Hello,

I've built a custom menu that displays two category tabs and a page. It all works fine except for when you first go to the site it shows all posts in publication order. I want to change that so the homepage effectively is the first catgeory page. Is that possible? I've tried hiding the homepage but it isn't making any difference.

Can anyone help?

Many thanks,

Rebecca.

Hi all, I'm looking for the option that allows me to set what page people see when they first come to my blog. I once set it to be my "about" page, but seem to remember there was an option to have the most recent post instead. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I'm in a time crunch and could really use some guidance. Thank you!
