Thanks for listening, and for that. I love WordPress, and am grateful for your 'tone'. Others can often be 'condescending' without understanding that effect on others - or may upon understanding that effect!

Anyhow, thanks...I found that bold texting my post works for the problems I'm having (and not just me - saw another topic on the same Theme with the same problem) - something I didn't know I could do (where have I been?!)

Thank you for the suggestion. Most good designers feel they can make the best design decisions such as fonts in their themes, but there's always a chance a specific theme needs a helping hand. If you find serious readability or viewing problems with any of the themes, please post specific examples in the support forum. Screenshots for issues like that are always much appreciated.

If you are expecting to be able to click a button and change fonts throughout your blog then it’s not that easily done. These are 3 ways to change fonts on wordpress.com blogs and one is by purchasing an annually renewable custom design upgrade.

(1) Changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the HTML editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/font-size-color/

(2) Changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2

(3) Changing all font families, colors and sizes throughout the whole blog by purchasing an annually renewable Custom Design upgrade and using Typekit Fonts with Staff support. http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/

I know you all do a very good job (I think so anyway!) and need to make money of your product somehow, but I think we need at LEAST basic control over icons in our themes

1 - at least six types
2- at least three colours

Can't be too difficult! Sometimes the content that the designer uses does not factor in simple READABILITY or VIEWING problems that come up due to the variety of users and content.

Just three of each would be fine - you can use the font manager to entice buyers to premium - it's another opportunity avenue!

You can change the font in posts and pages with HTML on a post by post and page by page basis, but you cannot change any of the other fonts in the theme (titles, widgets, etc.) without the Custom Design upgrade.

Hello again,
Your theme is displaying the fonts that the theme designer defined for fonts in the theme itself. We cannot edit templates or themes. If you are expecting to be able to click a button and change fonts throughout your blog then it’s not that easily done.

I do know that the font in the edit window is not the font in the published post . . . it was just saying that I would prefer that font as opposed to the one now in the published post.

As raincoaster has said the Consolas font you see in the HTML editor is not the font that will display in your post after it's published. The font stack use in the HTML editor is Consolas, Monaco, Monospace. If you computer does not have Consolas, then your browser will use Monaco. If it does not have that, then it will use Monospace. If it does not have that, the browser will use another font. Changing themes will not result in another font appearing in the editor.

I looked at the 5 and 6 icons in row 2. I tried copying the entire post as plain text, but that didn't change the font back to the original one, which matched the title font. This font is out of nowhere . . . doesn't match the font from a copy/paste from a word doc, nor from the astrology report I quoted.

It's really annoying, as it changed the font in all the text in all the posts in this blog. It no longer has the right "feel" to it.

Do you think if I changed themes to another one, then back to this one it would reset it to the original? I'm not sure if this theme is still in the lineup. I really like it for this blog and would love to continue with the graphics and the original font.

I hope so . . I intend to be writing more in this particular blog.

It been a while since I posted a post to this blog (abstractspirit). I did copy/paste some data but I don't think it changed until I uploaded a photo. I'm going to try now your suggestion. Thank you for the info. Judy

Note that recently the font used on the Edit window has changed. It doesn't affect the regular text in the actual post, just in the Edit window.

We Volunteers cannot see your previews. We can only see posts or pages after they are published. Have you ben copying and pasting? Just in case you have been without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, please see here so you know how to do this correctly in the future. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text

Go to Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

For some odd reason, after I added a photo to my blog, in the preview it shows a different font for the text than usual. It's ugly. How do I get the old one I've always had back?

On menu tab spacing/justification, I tried several things and couldn't get it to justify across the full width. You can adjust the left/right padding under " #access a " but then things can break if someone uses the zoom feature on their browser.

If it is possible, it is beyond my experience at this point.

Why reinvent the wheel when you don't have to?

2010 supports custom menus here and you can add external links, have dropdowns and also add tags, categories, or just about anything you want to it.

As far as changing fonts, you can do that, just remember that any font you select has to be available on the visitor's computer or their browser will substitute whatever it can find on their computer that is close.

For custom, off the wall or non-standard fonts, use typekit which is now compatible with wordpress.COM.

I'm looking to instate my own navbar to my blog. The reason being is that I want my own custom font and most importantly I need the "Home" button to link to my original website and not the blog homework.

Currently, I can pretty easily remove the standard navbar with CSS. Getting my navbar to show up on the other hand, is trickier. Another member in the forums suggested that I put the new navbar code in a widget, and then use fancy CSS to move it (using "absolute positioning") to the proper place.

Here's what I'm aiming for:

Is this dream attainable on WordPress.com? If so, how should I start?

(1) I'm hunting up those URLs.

(2) Not sure I understand the question. The posts 2005 through 2008 were imported from Yahoo360. The ones since 10 June 2009 were mostly written in the editor here.

(3) The import was from Yahoo blogs, not geocities. But I'll also try your suggestion #3, thanks.

(3) As your content is from a geocities import please follow these instructions:
Go to settings > Writing and select “WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then click “Save Changes.”

Now, starting with your latest post, open it in the editor, make one minor change such as adding a space and then deleting it, and then click “Update Post.” Check your blog and see if it is back to normal. If not, open the next post and do the same thing until it goes back to normal.

Going nuts here. When I save a post, the font is as a rule the same throughout. (I almost never look at the HTML view.) Next time I visit the same post, one or more paragraphs have another, usually larger but sometimes tiny, font size. I'll give you examples here, but they may spontaneously have changed again! This has been going on for ages, but is getting worse. If it should make a difference, the blog moved here from Yahoo360Beta last year.

Examples, choose these posts from the Table of Contents:
xlii. (last paragraph),
xxxix. (middle and last paragraphs),
xxxviii. (a mess! font size AND fonts are mixed up),
xxxiii. (several paragraphs have changed all by themselves!),
xxix. (beginning is now too tiny to read).

That should be enough examples. Please help.
