I type in a name to see if it's available. The "checking" icon indicates it is checking, but I have let it go twice now for 7 hours and it can't come up with an answer if the name is available. I have tried different names, and still hours go by until I finally give up. Whats wrong with this?

in "Checking" mode and never returns a yes or no. When I clicked 'Create Blog' I got the following error page:

Please remember that you have to provide the full, complete Blog URL, otherwise we can not fix it"

Please help me fix this. Never had this issue w/wp.com before ever. (I checked and it says all systems are up) Thanks.

I wonder if they've disabled registering new blogs over the weekend. It's not out of the realm of possibility. Try again in a few hours, but in the meantime report it to staff via your dashboard Help button. Give them the specific URL you wanted to register, too.

So you are both trying to create new blogs and something is hanging while checking for the new URL? Have you tried looking for URLs you KNOW exist already? And URLs that you're pretty sure don't? Try that and let me know what happens when you do (obviously, don't register them if you dont' want them, just let us know if it says they're available).
