All of WordPress.com ads are family-friendly. If you feel an ad is inappropriate please take a screenshot of it, upload it via Media -> Add New to your Media Library. Then return to this thread to post the file name to let Staff them know it’s there for them to view.

Lastly, note to eliminate all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs we can purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.

No need to apologize: it's your right to set your blog to private.

a) Make sure the menu you're working on is the one selected in the "Sub Menu" pulldown of the Theme Locations module.
b) Subpages (dropdowns) are created by dragging items below their parent item, then dragging them horizontally as shown in this screenshot:

If these suggestions aren't enough, study the post I linked to.

I would also suggest you edit your pages and correct their URLs: I don't see why the URLs should say "link-number-5", "link-number-6" etc instead of "seating", "organization" etc.

Hi WP Community.
I am using the Yoko theme and I'm testing it on my site TUMAINIRIVERA.WORDPRESS.
This theme supports two custom menus, one above the header image and one below. The one below the header image is the one I am currently playing around with.
For example, I would like for there to be "child" pages under the SEATING link. Under the seating link, there should be the child pages STOOLS, BENCHES, and CHAIRS.

I created separate pages for each of the "children", then added that to that specific menu (the one below the header).

What am I missing??

As vilipend said the page is to bright hard to read.

Delete welcome world, delete the UNCATEGORIZED category and give categories a name, one name or maybe two.

Add tags to posts up 9 or 10.

Your last post is to long people won't stick around long enough to read it all.

Otherwise a good start.

I think you're off to a good start. I like that you already have your own background and banner, and that you are clearly aware of your target audience. This will prove very helpful in writing future blog posts, which is good!

My advice is as follows:

1. Delete the first blog post "Welcome world," as this is a default blog post that isn't relevant at all to your blog :D

2. Make use of the "Insert More Tag." As you accumulate more posts on your blog, your readers may find that showing the entire blog post on your homepage will get cumbersome for someone who just wants to browse through your blog posts without having to read every single one in full. The "Insert More Tag" looks like two squares separated by a dotted line. It allows you to make a sort of preview for your blog post.

I'm suggesting this because the first thing I notice about your blog is that as I scroll down I'm hit with a wall of text. I find this almost a little intimidating, and this may happen to someone new who is just trying to get a feel for your blog. It could just be because that post had a lot of information and perhaps too many line separations. Likewise, don't forget that instead of posting links you can link text directly using the chainlink icon.

3. Use visuals in your blog posts. Even if it's just a random picture of a parent and child (you look up pictures on Flickr to use for free by going to "Explore" and clicking "Creative Commons") This will make your blog posts easier to read and create more 'interactive' atmosphere for your readers.

4. Lastly, I find the white blog post on white background look a little daunting. But that's just my opinion. If you'd like examples of blog themes, check out other people's blog on this forum as well as themes made by the WordPress staff. They have wonderful themes to draw inspiration from.

I hope some of my speculations help you out! Keep in mind that I am simply a fellow blogger; I have no blogging expertise, but I've seen enough blogs to feel my advice will at least inspire you. As for promoting, I say reach out to your friends and family first. From there, keep posting on WordPress forums :) Best of luck!

I strongly suspect this is either the same resilient troll, or another person of similar bad intent. The story she tells is based on a news story about a 1991 murder of a child in New York. Unfortunately for the author of the blog, and fortunately for readers, "her" math skills are poor. She tells some horrific tales of abuse about her supposed 18 year-old adopted daughter, explaining that the girl was born a year after her brother's murder. The murder was in 1991. That would make the "girl" either 19 or 20. That's not a mistake even an adoptive parent would make. It's a made-up story for purposes of exploitation.

My nearly two-year-old daughter climbed into bed with me this morning. So sweet, right? That’s what I thought at first. She had taken her clothes off because she wanted me to change her poopy diaper…which was leaking…and had leaked all over the sheets, and a bit on the comforter, AND on the floor, my oldest pointed out. Not quite my idea of the perfect way to start my day. But the best part came when I was in the bathroom, bottom sheet soaking in one sink, while I scrubbed the top sheet in the other. The culprit started to push the door open when her four-year-old sister, sensing my mood, loudly whispered to her, “Don’t go in there now. It’s dangerous!”

Here's how to link your username to your blog. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes. Thereafter every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.
