The post slider appears on the front page if and only if you set featured images of the size required by the theme and mark them as sticky posts.
Featured Images at least 840 pixels wide.
(optimum width is 290 pixels for featured images)

I'm sorry but that's not possible on a free hosted wordpress.com blog. It is possible on a wordpress.org install. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

All of the documentation seems to point to me making a post sticky and setting a feature image of 840 to make the slider active.

I think this might have changed in the most recent theme release. It now has a slider menu which allows you to specify what images you want and what you want them to link to.

Using the slider menu I've managed to get the outline of the slider to appear but not the images themselves. I've tried making the posts sticky (e.g. the one about olympic sausages is currently sticky and at the top).

Now, I got my blog checked with the google webmaster tool, as well as sitecheck.sucuri.net

The results were positve, and no malware was detected.

I don't really know what to do.

We've released a fix for captioned image so that it's center aligned when it's specified so. Thanks again for reporting this. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
