one of the big reasons why i like bueno is that there is no border around the photos but all of a sudden they are there???

also, the colours seems to keep changing even though i specified a colours.

what gives?? anyone else experiencing weirdness with their blog?

You're welcome.
Agree, that border is too thick for thumbnails that are so small. Paste this in the CSS editor:

.widget-bueno-featured span.thumb img {
border: 5px solid #123456;
}

Change the numbers to decrease the thickness and change the color. For color palettes and hex numbers you can consult this page:
http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html

Or paste this to remove the border altogether (but I don't think this is the best solution):

.widget-bueno-featured span.thumb img {
border: none;
}

As I'm saying in the post I linked to, you'll be able to answer such questions yourself if you learn to use Firebug in Firefox.

Actually, one more question! I tried the Featured Article widget which is great, but I don't actually like the borders that are being generated on the thumbnail pictures; they're ever so thick. I had a look at the CSS but I can't see where that is. Is there any way of reducing the thickness or taking the coloured border away altogether on the little pics? It's too much. Many thanks (again).

1) Each theme uses different selectors. "img.aligncenter" isn't taken from the CSS of Bueno.
2) Still, it's a very general selector, so it would work in Bueno, but not for the header image: the header image isn't centered (it's just a full-width image inside the header area), and it has its own selector.
3) When you want to change something, you add only the relevant rule(s). The "display" rule and the "margin" rules in the above code are what make a centered image centered, and they are already present in the original CSS of the theme, so you don't repeat them: if you only want to change the border, you add the border rule(s) only.

So, to change the border of the header image, add this in the CSS editor (it will also allow you to change the thickness and/or the style of the border, if you wish):

#header-image img {
border: 5px solid #BA0707
}

See this post of mine too, for some general advice and resources:

Hi there.

  I'm a complete beginner at CSS and although I've had a go and managed to do a couple of things, I'm now completely stuck. I want to experiment with a coloured border around an image or two and I'm trying first with the image on my header. Here is the CSS code that I thought would give me a red border (or at least using the same colour as my links):

img.aligncenter {
display: block;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
border-style: solid;
border-color: #ba0707
}

When I press 'Save' it doesn't change anything at all. Can someone help please? Also is there a way of previewing changes because all I can see how to do is either 'Save' or 'Cancel'! Sorry if these are rookie questions; but the fact is I am indeed a rookie! Many thanks!

@julievanhuizen, what is happening is that the Custom Colors feature has some built in contrast rules to try to help keep the text readable for people with impaired vision and for accessibility reasons. If you select a color that is too close to the background color or that is programmatically determined to be too hard to read, the color gets adjusted.

It's possible to override the color contrast rules using custom CSS. Here is an example that adjusts all of the things Custom colors adjusts for link and heading color, except you need to copy and paste it into your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor:

a,
#nav-above a,
.fetch a,
.entry-meta a,
#site-info a {
	color: #f58026;
}

.menu ul a,

.page-title,
.post_title,
.post_title h1,
.post_title h2,

bautawitch, I reviewed this issue and I think that changing the content area background color to gray was an intentional design choice by our theme developers. I will double check that to make sure.

In the mean time, you can always override a color choice like that with the CSS editor. For example, add the following to your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS editor to change the content area background color:

#page {
    background: #F7F3EE;
}

You can also change the color code to something else if you'd like:
http://automattic.github.com/Iris/

Also, we have a really fantastic community forum for CSS. Please visit http://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization/ any time if you have CSS or Custom Colors questions in the future.

Thanks for reporting this, and I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

This appears to be a bug when changing with the Custom Colors feature, and I'll report this to our developers so they can take a closer look.

While I can't give a time frame, I'll be sure to reply back to your forum thread when I have updates.

I changed the colour of the header on my site and and have been trying to change the colour of the menu tabs on the top to match through Custom Design. However although it shows I've done this in preview when I go to the site not only has the colour not changed but the lines around the menu tabs have gone out of alignment. I've changed them back to the original for the time being while I try to sort out the problem. Any advice much appreciated.

I need help with changing the colour of my blog. I just don´t know what you call that area. It's not the background. Its the area where I put the text and my photos. "The paper" on the desk, so to speak. I don't want it grey! I have no idea why it has turned gray? I want it to be white as a paper without changing any of the other colours. I do not want to have to use frames around my pictures and photos which I now feel I have to, to make it look nice. Please help me!

Best wishes

Hi! I'm struggling to decide which theme I can use best for my blog & online shop - I sell things I've made at home & would like to use WP.com but I'm not at all tech savvy. I need help deciding on a theme that I can customise the colours in (more feminine & warm), display a sort of 'catalogue' of my shoes with a paypal button so that folks can buy direct from me (and save me & them from the etsy monster).

I'd really appreciate your help - my head hurts from trying to work what is best! Thanks
