You export the content from the blog you want to abandon and import it into the blog you want to keep.

You then set the old blog you are not using to private at settings > reading.

I have two blogs, I want to make one. One is a personal blog and the other is my art blog, but I don't think they need to be separate. I have read some ways to move blogs, but none of them seem like what I am trying to do. Is this possible to transfer all the posts to the other blog?

Does your host have an exporter so you can make an XML export file of the content and then import it into your blog here?

If not then does that site have an RSS feed?

Thanks, again, @time thief. I don't have a WordPress.org site and don't know CSS or code (eyes glazing over right now ;), so that part of your response, I think, doesn't apply to my situation. The website I meant, http://www.mundolifework.com, was built by a designer, and I don't know how to update it, so I thought of just incorporating some of the material into my blog. I know there's a back end that he uploaded the files to, so I was talking about accessing some of those files (not the CSS design part, the body copy/text) and moving them into my destination WordPress.com blog. So I'm gathering that I couldn't do that, right?

Yes.

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs. To import from a WordPress.org install into a WordPress.com blog see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/

Advice: upgrade the WordPress.org site to WordPress 3.5.1 and delete all spam before you create the XML export file.

2) Can widgets be transferred or do I have to redo them -- and can they be used on some but not all pages (meaning Pages or Post pages) of my blog? Hope that makes sense.

All text widget content must be copied and pasted into text widgets on the site you move the content too as it cannot be exported.

You can export the content out of one blog and import it into the other blog and then make the blog you don't want to use private.

Log into the old blog, go to Tools → Export, and download the XML (WXR) file to your computer.

In the new blog, go to Tools → Import → WordPress, and upload the file you downloaded in step 1. After you upload the file, you can choose the option to Download & import file attachments if you want to move your media files.

Hi! I want to simplify and reorganize my blogging experience by combining two of my WP.com blogs. I plan to choose a new, more robust template and sort posts using custom menus/categories for http://janmundo.wordpress.com. I'll create new nav tabs and categories; then I want to move/incorporate some, but not all, of the posts (which contain photos), pages, and widgets from my other site, http://theheadachecoach.wordpress.com, to my Jan Mundo blog.

Is there a way you'd recommend doing this? I'm thinking for each item that it's a cut and paste process from the Visual Editor (not a coder). Is there a wholesale way to do this instead? Do I have to redo all the widgets? After I move the posts, would then I select the original publish dates to keep them in order?

alternatively, if you just want to be able to log in to one account from the other, make yourself administrator of the other account for both:

Another alternative, if you don't have much or anything yet, in one of the accounts, is to create a blog with a similar (or different) title on the user account that has more blog content, then make the one you're not using on the other account, private so nobody else can see it.

Each account has one email address associated with it, but you can have any number of blogs on each account. Also bear in mind that while you can delete a blog, you can never delete a WordPress.com account.

The RSS feed will show all posts from all authors. Tumblr used to allow you to pull in posts from multiple sites but they disabled that for new blogs some time ago. You may be able to find an aggregator or you could just use FriendFeed.

I will ask the blog owner to turn on the RSS feed for those blogs.

If you are referring to WordPress blogs then there is no turning on or turning off of feeds as they are built-in.

Hello. I am trying to figure out a way to create one place for my readers to go in order to read my content. I currently have my own blog, but I also contribute to two other WordPress blogs. Is there a way to have my posts from the two other blogs show up in a sidebar, additional page or even, as a last resort, within my own blog posts?

I do not have a premium theme yet.

Do not delete your bolg - or it will be gone. Log in to the dashboard as the user you want to transfer from, then click "My Blogs". A list of blogs should appear. As you hoevr over the entries an option "Transfer Blog" will appear.

Hi. I set up two different blogs under two different user names because I didn't really understand what I was doing. Just for log in ease I'd like to combine the two blogs under one username. Is there a way to do that? Or must I close down one and create it again under the username? If I have to close one down, is there anyway of getting the exact same name once it has been shut down?

Blogrolls cannot be set to show only certain links. What you can do is to assign different categories to the links, and then the links widget will display those links separated under the category names in the links widget.

You can see a sample here:

I have link categories of "interwebs, "links," "mysites" and "wordpressing."

Interestingly, it's not every image. I only found out when I tried to redirect the URL the current blog, and the references to the un-moved images didn't work. WP asked for more info and I provided it. AFAIK, they're looking in to it.

Wouldn't a second "import" double up on everything?

Try and import them again; this didn't happen to me when I exported my WordPress.com blog to an independent install. I realize you're going the other way, but presumably the import/export programs work the same.

I have e-mailed support staff twice (was previous communicating with Hew) and I have not received an answer on this importing issue. I am currently STUCK.

The old blog won't get any more posts.
The new blog is getting updates.
But I can't redirect the URL because the IMPORT left all the images on the old server (two years worth of images) and merely POINTS to them through the domain name I want to redirect.

Redirecting it now BREAKS the link to two years worth of images.
Is there a 3rd party tool that can take all the images off the old server (just "read" them because I do not have admin access to it) and populate them on WordPress.com?

Did it today and it looked okay at first, but then I found out that all the images weren't IMPORTED, only the posts. The html in the posts pointed back to the old locations for the image son the old server. That's not IMPORTING, that's referring (and also poor blogging practice). I've re-contacted support to work that out.
