Again, this happens in both Chrome and Safari.

Tried again, same issue. Still freezes on "saving changes" when I try to change the background (even if I choose one of the pre-loaded prints rather than a photo).

I tried Safari and got the same "saving changes..." freeze.

You may also try it in a different browser to see if you get the same result.

When I go to customize the background photo on the Confit Theme, it allows me to upload a new photo, but when I click 'save' it it gets stuck in the 'saving changes' sidebar message and the background image never changes (even though it shows up as the new image while on the customization page).

The white/grey cloud photo is the first one I uploaded and was able to set as the background image; since then I've tried to change it many times with different images and always just get the unending 'saving changes' message.

Is this a known issue?

By the way, I WAS able to change and save other items in customization, like the menu and the post page and setting the static homepage. But the 'saving changes' message never goes away.

It's probably not impossible. :)

If you're trying to bend a theme's design in ways it wasn't originally design to do (which is often the case with the CSS edits), then it may take more work than you were expecting, depending on the complexity of the theme and what you're trying to do with it. The Confit theme really wasn't designed to have two sidebars. It's not impossible to make it that way, but it's also not a simple task.

It moves the Twitter feed because that is one of the widgets contained in the #secondary element, which is what my example was setup to use, so that's expected.

You were on the right track with the "#twitter-3" selector for the Twitter widget. When you use absolute positioning, it is relative to the parent element. In this case, since the parent (#secondary) is absolutely positioned, it's taking on those properties. To get around it, you can position the Twitter widget relative to the (now moved) #secondary element. Here is an example:

	width: 222px;
}

Note that this example depends on the previous example, and you also need to adjust the previous example to add "overflow: visible;" to the "#secondary" block.

The Custom Design upgrade on WordPress.com allows you to edit CSS, and that means you can move things that already exist on a page but not add new dynamic content.

Here is an example to illustrate moving the sidebar in the Confit theme to the right:

Change the right and top values if you'd like to move the sidebar to a different location.
