Hi,

I have the same problem as http://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/image-size-shrink?replies=2#post-1253895 . My page shows my tiled (rectangular) galleries with very small images when not logged in to WordPress, but when logged in it looks fine.

I haven't seen this behaviour before, but then it's not often I'm not logged in to wp. Noticed the problem today because I booted up my new laptop, so at first I thought it was a problem in Win8/Chrome but since it disappears when I log in it shouldn't be.

My blog is on http://gullmars.se (= http://gullmars.wordpress.com)

Does anyone know how I can extend the custom header image that I've uploaded so that it extends across both the content area and the sidebar?

I've previously expanded the width of the Contempt theme, but when I designate an image as a "header" image in Contempt, it won't let the image be sized at wider than 750 px, even though the CSS has been updated to be wider. The two possibilities it seems to allow are for (1) the image to be repeated over the sidebar or (2) a plain background color to be over the sidebar.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.

Hi,
I would like to widen my theme pages. I have contempt theme and i am happy with the layout, but would just like to have the pages wider to fill up more of the webpage. If i purchase CSS upgrade can i do this? And how?
Also, i assume this will affect my header image. If i have to resize it how do i know what size it will need to be? Previous image was 750x180px.
Many thanks, Damien

I really really like the theme Hum, which appears to be a variant of Twenty Eleven. I like the comment balloon that appears next to post articles, and I like having the search box in the title area. I also like the way this theme separates the posts into individual “sheets” as you scroll through, making it easier to discern the end of one post and the start of the next.

But as much as I like it, I end up not using it for two reasons: (1) I prefer non-responsive layouts such as in Twenty Ten and Contempt, and (2) The widget & title sidebar in Hum is a little large for me.

I would like to see a theme that blends some of the popular features of Twenty Ten and Contempt with some of the cool features of Hum.

•	Comment balloons next to post titles (e.g. Hum, Twenty Eleven)
•	Posts separated by color into separate “sheets” (e.g. Hum)
•	Search box in Title area (e.g. Hum, Twenty Eleven)
•	Fixed width / non-resizing (e.g. Twenty Ten, Contempt)
•	Small / narrow sidebar (e.g. Twenty Ten, Contempt)

Note: The “How to use the Themes Forum” sticky requests a theme name and a link to view the theme when posting suggestions for new themes. I don’t quite understand this, since the theme I’m suggesting doesn’t exist, which is after all why I’m suggesting it. :-P

This is a difficult thing to do with Contempt (which is a very, very, very old theme) because it does not have a parent div for each individual post. I can move the date up above the title, but if a title happens to go to two lines then the dat is going to end up superimposed on the top line of the title. There is a trick that can be used with themes where the post has an parent div, but that isn't the case here.

Give this a try, but I can't guarantee that things won't come undone if your post title goes to 2 lines. You can give that a try with a test post perhaps.

.post {
position: relative;
}

.post h2, .post h2 a {
margin-top: 60px;
}

.post small {
position: absolute;
top: -40px;
}

Hello,

I have been working on customizing the contempt theme. I almost have it the way I want it except for the date. I would like it BEFORE the post title. The date is using the <small> tag. I can add padding to move it to the right and I can specify the font, size and even put a bottom border, but I can't seem to find out how to move it to above the post title. Below is the style for the small tag. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Since the new infinite scrolling feature was added, my site is a mess for non-Wordpress users. It looks fine if you're logged into WordPress, but for a user not logged in, the background color is different, borders surround everything, text colors are off, and links appear in odd places.

Any thoughts on what caused this issue? Since WordAds was installed on my site, there have been a few minor formatting issues. For instance, there's a soft, gray border around my sidebar that was never there before. I've tried to get rid of it with my Custom CSS option, but since the WordAds install, there's nothing I can do. Any chance WordAds is responsible for the new mess?

Thanks, in advance, for any help you can provide!

Hi All,

My website (www.manxelectricrailway.wordpress.com) currently uses the 'Contempt' theme which i've had in place since I started the site in mid 2010. I use the 'gallery' feature quite extensively on the site, and this has undergone two updates which have drastically altered it's operation.

The initial way it worked was more than perfect for the site, however the two latest 'carousel' style modifications aren't as well suited for what I want them to do...

Is it possible to get a plug in to revert to the old Gallery styles prior to their updating? If so, how do I go about it?

Cheers!

Does infinite scrolling work for you on other WordPress.com blogs?

I checked a couple of other wordpress.com blogs that have infinite scrolling on, and my chrome browser fails to display them properly as well. I get one ajax load and no more. To read beyond the second "page" I have to click the permalink for the last post and use "previous post" from there.

I will try different settings on my setup (temporarily disabling Outpost firewall and Avira free antivirus among other possible culprits) and see if I can find the problem.

justpi >> since the problem seems to be related to viewing wordpress.com blogs with infinite scrolling on my computer, I'm happy to keep the setting. But it would be nice to find out why the ajax script fails to run/load more than once, and if it is a wider problem or just affects my windows installation.

I re-tested in Chrome 19 on Win7. I have no trouble loading infinite scrolling. Example: http://cl.ly/Hf9v

Clearing cache is a good first troubleshooting step, and I see you already tried that. I'm not sure what else to test for that report. I have nothing to go on if I can't reproduce the issue. If anyone else can test the same conditions or if anyone else reports the same problem, that would help. Does infinite scrolling work for you on other WordPress.com blogs?

Many thanks for looking into this!

I tried again and can reproduce the problem every time (on my win7 64 machine):

1) Infinite Scrolling set to "On"
2) cleared cache (and checked that chrome://cache/ was empty)
3) let all images load before scrolling to the end

Every time I end up after the post "Tömt kameran" with no further scrolling and no ajax spinner shown. This is what it looks like in Chrome: http://gullmars.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/dhdump-0183.jpg

The same behaviour is displayed in "incognito" mode. In IE9 it flows ok (except for the two column problem).

I only get the ajax loading to work a couple of times and then it looks like my blog history ends after some 20 posts. This behaviour occurs in both IE9 and Chrome 19.

I tested in IE9 and Chrome 19 and I was unable to reproduce this problem. I was able to scroll all the way back to the "Stenar och rötter" post without any trouble. I did need to wait between scrolling times for some of the scrolls because there are so many large images in your posts. Maybe you just tried scrolling too quickly without letting the images load.

With Infinite Scroll setting off: The "load more posts" button doesn't appear more than a couple of times in Chrome. In IE9 however the "load more posts" button shows up as intended.

I setup a test blog using Contempt and tried the "Load more posts" button in Chrome 19, and it always appeared in my tests.

Also some of my two column galleries show up as one column galleries when they are loaded through the ajax loading function (even those that were already on screen displayed correctly before the load).

I can reproduce this one, but only while testing on your blog. When I tried to reproduce the problem on my test blog, two-column galleries always worked for me. I'm not sure what's causing it yet—but your custom CSS looks okay to me. I'll do some additional testing.

At http://gullmars.se I am running the Contempt theme with custom CSS to display a slightly wider page than the standard theme and slightly tweaked image frames.

Since the Infinite Scroll feature was added to my blog I've had several problems:

With Infinite Scroll setting on: The only way to see all my posts is to set the "Blog pages show at most" setting to an absurd number like 1000. If I set it to a more normal number I only get the ajax loading to work a couple of times and then it looks like my blog history ends after some 20 posts. This behaviour occurs in both IE9 and Chrome 19.

With Infinite Scroll setting off: The "load more posts" button doesn't appear more than a couple of times in Chrome. In IE9 however the "load more posts" button shows up as intended.

Also some of my two column galleries show up as one column galleries when they are loaded through the ajax loading function (even those that were already on screen displayed correctly before the load). This happens both in IE9 and Chrome.

Could my custom CSS be interfering with the gallery columns? Before the infinite scroll feature was added I never saw problems like these.

I've cleared my cache(s) and cookies and tried the site on a couple of different computers. In Chrome I've also tried without any extensions (adblock, keep optouts etc) loaded, but no change.

Hope you can help!
