I run a blog, findthepieces.com and I'm starting a new blog (WHHMS) SEPARATE of FTP that I want people to be able to log in and contribute stories. I want to know if I add them as a contributor for the NEW blog (WHHMS), will they have access to any of my FTP content?

Or will they only be able to log in and see WHHMS stuff?

Contributor allows access and the ability to add content but not publish it. It must be published by the Editor or Administrator.

WordPress.com offers a free feature to request "feedback" on a post before publishing it, giving the invited guest a link to see the draft of the post. See Request Feedback — Support — WordPress.com.

Also check out the extensive series on managing multiple authors in WordPress if you need more information and details. For example, some WordPress Themes will feature the author bio at the bottom of their posts and on the author pageview (the web page showing the author posts from the link around their byline). There are also author Widgets to feature the authors in the sidebar available.

If you have a Gmail account, you can use it to create separate emails for each one, by adding +something or .something.

For example, if the original email is [email redacted] - you can use [email redacted], [email redacted], or [email redacted], [email redacted]

Gmail will send all those emails to you. Other email services may provide a similar feature.

I am administrating a blog for a class I teach of thirty 8-9 year-olds. I have used a 2nd email (i.e. not the blog email) to set up a contributor account. I want the children all to be able to use this account to contribute to the blog. The trouble is when several of them login at the same time and they try to save their post the site gets stuck (just saying that it's saving). They are using Firefox. Is there a solution to this or is there another way of setting up multiple contributors without them having to have emails?

I am new to wordpress and not very good with computers

Please don't be intimidated by the code. It's just a language that simple-minded (follow exact instructions only) computers/browsers need so they know what to do.

You only have to make this coded post once for your students to use it.

Some interpretations of the language follow:

The div you see in my code is their word for a container, like a box.
The style with its instructions is telling the browser to put a line around that box. (further info for the browser is the padding so your text is placed a little inside the box, not right against the edges)

Your student contributors won't need or see the code: all they need do is to activate the template. Then type in the information in the visual editor.

What you are asking about, having a template for students to fill in on your site, is possible.

I've not personally used this feature so don't know what sort of problems you might encounter with having newbie users (contributors) working with it.

That caution aside, I'd suggest making a template something like this (paste code in text (formerly html) editor) with perhaps some instructions/reminders how to use the format.

For example: Group members, Project name, Project Summary, Reflection on work to date, etc. (each heading followed by a box to enter this information) which will all appear together as one post. Is this possible? How do I do this? Thank-you!
