Hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me. I purchased my first theme to use for my Design portfolio website but from just viewing the demo page didn't realize that the image frame on the portfolio detail page would automatically vertically crop my images. This is a big problem for me as I have some vertical images that I need to include and its cropping my images all the way down to 290 pixels high.

I've tried contacting the theme programmer several times and though he did respond the first 1-2 times and said he'd look into it, it has been several weeks now and he has not responded to any of my follow up messages. I have even messaged him and just asked if he could point me in the general direction to where in the code I'd have to look to fix this problem myself and still I've gotten nothing. I've tried looking through the code myself to see if I could figure it out and I can't seem to find it.

I'm not sure if it's possible for anyone to help give me advice or suggestions on where to look without seeing the code itself (out of respect for the theme programmer I don't want to just post it up anywhere) but I would really appreciate it if I could get any help/advice. The code is just a bunch of php files and a css file. If it helps to see it, my site in its current state using the wordpress theme is at http://www.alexismillerdesign.com. Thanks in advance.

Hi. I know there are many posts about the Modularity Lite Slideshow already, but I seem to be having a problem that hasn't been covered specifically.

I know that images of 950 pixels wide (or above) are selected for the slideshow, and as such I specifically photoshop my blog images to be either 900 or 950 depending on which ones I want to be shown in the slideshow. It has always reliably shown the images that I have wanted, based on this practice, and cropped the height of the image to fit the slideshow size. I quite like this cropping, as it gives a sort of "detail" version of the images. But when I made my most recent post and included an image of 950px wide, instead of cropping, it has left the length, but resized the height of the images to fit the slideshow, giving a distorted appearance.

Any hints on why it would suddenly change it's operations?

Good day to you,
If the option is not highlighted then you probably have a browser issue. But setting that aside I never rely on the cropper as foing so resluts in a loss of image quality. If you want better image quality use an image editing application to re-size copies of your images to the specific dimensions required then upload and insert those copies. More specific information here > Cropper or Proper Image Preparation?
Hope this helps

Hi,
Before I begin, this post is about a different website (aretouch.se) but I could not find it in the dropdown list above.

Since I cannot adjust the alignment of my featured image in the thumbnails on the main page, I would like to crop the image I want to use so it shows a nice composition. However, when you enter the post, this cropped image shows up and I don't want it to be there, I'd like to have the cropped image as the thumbnail, and the full size image in the actual post. Is this possible? Like "Hide Featured Image in Post"? I know it doesn't make much sense, but perhaps there is also a thumbnail setting I can use.

Thank you,

So I am starting to build my blog using the iTheme2 theme. I am planning making about 10 sticky posts with featured images so they all stick to the image carousel.

Each featured image is a different piece of art but when you click on it to go to the post it shows both the featured image in a post header (which is cropped and doesn't show the full artwork) and the same image (uncropped) in the post body. Since these posts won't have much text it looks really weird having a cropped featured image and then the same image fullsized below it. I'd like to have just the fullsized version.

Is there a way to keep a featured image active so it stays in the carousel but not have it show up in the post? I'd like to have just the fullsized image from the post show up, otherwise if there is a way to have the featured image uncropped that would work too and I would remove the image in the post. As of now the site is private since nothing is really on it yet.

Also, I don't have the custom CSS option purchased but if it will take care of this issue I'll definitely be purchasing it, just want make sure though.

Crop means to cut something down - like taking a pair of scissors to a picture but doing it electronically - WordPress.COM has a reputation for not scaling pictures well at times for things like headers etc.

If you are uploading a header picture you want to fix it with some type of photo editing program before uploading it - the picture should be the exact size of the header.

Photo Shop is what many use - there are a lot of them - I use Gimp that is like Photo Shop but free. bit to get used to but for simple things like crop and scale it is not too bad. Look at cnet.com for the download if you want.

Better yet - find a friend that is good at graphics and buy them a drink and get them to fix your picture for you. :)

I'm a newbie and obviously an idiot. I imported my photo, and was told to "crop". What does this mean, and how do I do it? The picture I ended up with was *very* grainy.

I'm using the fusion theme, and i am working on uploading a custom header image. I checked on WP, it says the header needs to be 980 x 148 px and i made my document in photoshop exactly that size. When I upload the header image, WP makes me crop it, and then when i look at my blog WP stretches it to be the original size i made it ( the 980 x 148px) i know it's back to that original size because it's pixilated now and looks blurry. (i also took a screenshot and measured the pixels in photoshop. they are the same.)

why does it make me crop it if it's the proper size?

The procedure is a little less than intuitive, but here is how to do it.

1. draw the crop box and size and position it as you like.

2. At top left, click the "crop" icon (left end)

3. Click the save button after the image refreshed in its new cropped form

The above works for me using Safari on MacBook Pro (10.6.6).

I have been successful uploading many pictures to my blog. I usually present them as a slide show. Some pictures I want to crop, and have done so, "boxing" the part I want. Then I click SAVE, and nothing happens. I wait patiently forever, and nothing happens. I have tried over several weeks at different times, and with different pictures, all with the same results: it will not save. I am using Safari o a Mac Book Pro.
