Hi - I purchased the CSS upgrade to try and edit the color of the date circles and the footer which is currently a jarring blue - but I cant seem to fine where thee are in the CSS. Does anyone have any idea?

It worked for me using Firebug, so it should work just fine. Were you using the preview? If yes, then sometimes you have to force refresh the preview page to see the changes. It has been acting wacky for a few months.

Thanks, but that code didn't work. I'm new to CSS editing - just trying out some themes for my blog, and playing with some options to see which will work best for my desired style. Just testing - nothing to show. I'm using a static front page, and accessing the posts from the sidebar widget, if that makes a difference. Thanks again!

My test blog does not have any tags and since I can't see yours, I'll had to go in and add some tags to one of the posts on my test blog. Add the following.

.post .tags {display: none; }

If you want the other text to go away also, use what I gave you before also.

Thanks for your help, thesacredpath! That code eliminated the posting information from the bottom of the post, but the tags are still visible. Can the tags be "hidden" as well?

I'd like to use tags with my posts, but I don't want them, or other posting information, to appear at the bottom of my posts. I know I'll need the CSS upgrade to hide them, but can anyone help me with the code. I'm using the Fusion theme.

As far as I can tell there's no way to relatively reduce the tag size using CSS but I might be missing something. You could make all the tag links the same size but then there is no indication of how often they have been used.

but I've actually turned the tag cloud off until I can get this resolved. Essentially the tag cloud is defaulting to the largest font size of 22 - I know through wordpress.org I could use the taxonomy parameter to edit the size, however, is this an option with a wordpress.com account, if so where is the file located?

I woudl like to change the size of the font on the tags in this benevolence theme, however, I cannot find the CSS code to do so. I thought I read on the theme that the tag fon defaults to the largest font size used in the CSS code for the tags, however, the largest font I have is the title at 12pt and the tags appear to be larger than that. Can anyone point me to the CSS style that needs changing in order to decrease the size of the tags font?

Here's some code for you to try out. It should work assuming you want the post width extended so your whole theme is wider rather than increasing the post width and decreasing the sidebar width proportionately. You would need to change your header image to fit the new size. In the example below it gives you an extra 70 pixels. You'll need to add or subtract the same amount to each width declaration if you want to modify this yourself. I've also included the bit to restyle your widget titles.

Erin, have you tried using Firebug for Firefox? It's an extension that makes editing .css files pretty simple and fast. You still have to copy the changes manually into your style.css file, but it helps tons.

I wish I had the answers for ya---CSS, Typekit, etc.---I don't understand any of it...I would love to make changes to my misty themed blog though...I'd love a wider sidebar---or even a 2nd side bar =) Also, I wish the shaded box surrounding a widget was a slightly darker as well...The font used for 'pages' at the top of theme isn't dark enough either---actually I wish all of the text was a smidge darker...

...somebody help us?

After trying out Tarski and Titan I think I am set on the Misty Look theme. I've managed to make a number of CSS changes -- as a total newbie -- that I am happy with thanks to all the wonderful support here.

I do wish I could alter a few more things in the code and I am wondering if you all can give me some clue as to how much of a pain in the neck these changes might be. First, I would really love to have the post/text area slightly wider (like I was able to do somewhat easily with other themes). This area is currently defined by a box, so I suspect I would have to go in and alter the box dimensions, and sidebar dimensions among other things. Do you think this is something a newbie could accomplish without making too much of a mess of the theme, or adding too many gray hairs? If it isn't I'll just let it go and deal with the narrow columns.

And secondly, for the life of me I can't get the sidebar heading fonts to change color or font family no matter how hard I try. I found what I thought was the code for these headings, I can't get them to budge. Any thoughts on that would be much appreciated too!

Thanks! I see the issue now. Are all the theme's master codes generally available? In Vostok I could click on 'see original CSS sheet' and get the full code, but Titan does not give it to me, only the mini template version.

Open your main blog web page in your browser (since it's private I can't see it), view the source code. and search the souce code for ".css" without the quote marks. You might come up with two or three. You will just have to view them all and see which is the master.

I don't know anything about actually editing CSS. I have the upgrade on one of my blogs, but Devblog did the coding and I just did what he told me to do. Afraid that's as useful as I can be.

All I want to change is font color and perhaps family. So, in order to learn the code that corresponds to the blog title or post title you would have to go through one of the CSS tutorials and try to figure it out from there?

I don't think you're doing anything wrong. The CSS that we are allowed to edit is a subset of the entire CSS. The amount varies from theme to theme. The best way to start fresh if you already have a design in mind is to use Sandbox.
