The custom images for ratings of comments, posts, and pages have all stopped working today. The images themselves are still present on the blog.

I can see it right now, too; that's not the problem. It's disappeared several times without any prompt on my end, and I have to re-set the image in my "header" settings on the dashboard. It's hard for me to post on a problem that isn't continuous. It just happens now and then, irregularly. I guess I'll just wait for it to disappear again, and then post. I thought maybe this had happened before with other blogs. Never mind. Thanks for your time.

Well as I can see the header image using IE8, Firefox 17, and Chrome 23 than I have to assume the problem is on your end.

Hmmm...I don't use IE9. The trouble I'm having is on multiple computers with multiple browsers, so I'm not sure it's a cache-ing thing.

Hello!

I'm working with the theme Bold Life, and I've made a custom header image that uploads fine, and works fine for about a week before mysteriously disappearing. The image is saved in my "header" options under appearance, but I have to re-select it every week or so in order for it to continue appearing. Weird?! Not sure how to fix this, or what would cause it. I've tried different browsers, Mac v. PC, and different image formats - it doesn't seem to correlate to any of these possibilities - just randomly disappears from the site every week or so. Help, please!

WordPress.com is, for all its good points, exactly the wrong kind of host for this kind of thing. It may be possible, but I very, very much doubt it. You can put the image up, and the standard audio player right beneath it, but you have nowhere near the freedom you'd have on, say, a WordPress.ORG blog.

Hi,

We're currently working on our band's website and we've been trying all sorts of different things to make an image play an audio file but with no success yet.

The aesthetic is important to us, we don't want a standard music player, very specifically a gramophone that can play a song.

Does anybody have any advice on how we can achieve this? There doesn't appear to be a widget for this and various different HTML/CSS codes haven't worked for us.

The other image has now changed too. This is definitely a bug (I have tried multiple PCs and browsers, and cleared cache) but not a serious one once you know about it.

Flush your browser cache? Have you checked how it looks in another browser?

OK something weird has happened. They have changed overnight despite the dashboard going back to the old image and the blog showing the old image yesterday. Only one of them is wrong at the moment, and I have tried changing it again - it looks as though it hasn't worked but I guess I'll wait and see again!

Hi,
I set a custom image for my blog ratings, following the instructions on the support page. This worked fine, only there was a one-pixel error in one of the images that makes it jump when setting the ratings. I decided to fix this and use different images for posts, pages, and comments.

Unfortunately changing the image URL does not work. It shows the new images in the preview but when you save it goes back to the old one. I have tried deleting cache and cookies, and tried on Firefox 7.0.1 and Chrome. I am beginning to think that this is a bug in WordPress. Does anyone else know of this or have a work-arround?

I have a question regarding custom images when using the rating system. In the advanced settings there is a box that says CUSTOM IMAGE, but how do I use this? Do I fill in an URL or something? Can I create my own image and sort of upload it? If yes, what format (like GIF or PNG)?
Anyone used this before?

I wish we could edit as well. I use to be with blogger however and it presents its own problems. WordPress has better templates, so that is a plus for me.

I've looked a bit into CSS & HTML now, doing the courses on W3C School website. To answer my question, there is a nice way of swapping images of the default theme. First upload the pics you want from the WordPress.com dashboard, copy and paste that address, and find the place in the CSS script of your theme that bears the image's name.

For Albeo's logo image in the header that would be:

.header h1 a,.header h1 a:visited,.header .LogoText h1 a:hover { background:url('http://direct/url/to/you/image.png') no-repeat left; padding-left:45px; }

Just fill in the image's URL, and your done. Same can be done with the background as well, of course.

It MAY, but there are very very few people here who really know their way around CSS, and they don't supply answers to people who just tell them what they want to accomplish and ask for the code to drop in. But if you've worked at a problem for awhile and tried a number of things, they will help out, just not necessarily promptly.

Be aware that there is no official CSS help here, so you should have some knowledge before you buy.
