Thanks for this. The problem seems to be that I no longer am able to make any changes using the customisation tool. When I access my blog the 'Home' page, which I set to static, it says 'Oops that pages can't be found' - I think it's because after setting it up I then deleted it? When I try to sort things out using the customise tab, the screen goes blank with just the 'loading design tools' bar down the right hand side and nothing further happens.

I am extremely new to blogging and not sure of terminology either. I just created a blog where I will mostly be sharing recipes. On my home page you can see on the menu bar: "Home" "About" and "Recipes". When I add a new post with a recipe, how can I create a section on my menu where "Recipes" because a drop down arrow to different categories of food?

For example, if had someone looking for a breakfast recipe, they would be able to click or hover over "Recipes" and find a drop down menu that includes "Breakfast". By clicking on this link they would be able to go to a pack with all of the recipes that I deemed as breakfast recipes.

Any advice?

I'm just getting started and have been playing around with themes and customising them. I used the custom tools to create a static front page entitled home, but then I think I must have deleted this while editing and now the front page displays as not being found. I can no longer access the customise tools either - the side bar appears with the 'downloading custom tools' message but it never happens.

Could you advise please?

How do I create added posts within a "page"? I see other blogs which have different "pages" that have a variety of posts which pertain to that linked page specifically. For example, I'd like to separate my blog posts via category "pages". I want to have a "page" called Letters and then include all my posts that are written as letters within that section. I learned how to create the additional "page", but that only allows me one post. I want the "menu" type "page to categorize my posts.
I've searched and googled for this answer for hours. The closest I came was some computer script lingo which I can't understand and would even know exactly *where* to put that code or if I'm even properly understanding what that code does. I'm terribly code illiterate. Is there any help for me? That I might be able to understand and utilize to solve this issue?

Your question is not theme related. You need to create a custom menu.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is
(1) there is only one page we can post to in any blog and
(2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/

Hi there,

I use the Sight theme and had a question about the categories at the top. I have the first category listed as "Brunch" and then listed sub categories underneath to organize by neighborhood. However, there is not filter between brunch and the neighborhoods. All of the posts from each neighborhood get thrown in instead of being filtered by only neighborhoods WITH brunch. Is there anyway to create a filter? Thank you!

The front page of the blog by default will display your posts (not pages) in reverse chronological order, with the most recently published post on top. If you do not want all the posts to show on the front page, then you can create a static front page called for example “Welcome” for your site and a “Blog” page for posts.

To do that create two pages > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ After you do that you go to > Settings > Reading and make the designation change and click “save changes”.
