Hi, I'm trying to create a wordpress.com site with two custom menus. I'm using the Motion theme and I keep having this issue where my Pages appear on a Top Menu above the title of the blog, and the Primary Menu shows one of my categories. I have two questions here for two options, either of which would be really useful:

1. Can I remove the categories from the primary menu so that it just appears blank?
2. How can I add pages from the top menu above the title to the primary menu, and then remove the categories?

Here is the site for reference: http://multicoach.wordpress.com/

Note that:
Home
and also
Galleries
Media
Student Log in
Studio Arts

are NOT categories. They are static pages.

Among the most common misconceptions is that bloggers fail to understand is (1) there is only one page we can post to one any blog and (2) the static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ they create do not automatically update. Only the dynamic pages like Categories, Tags and Archives created by the software when we publish a post we that we have assigned Categories and Tags too will update automatically update with posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-category-pages
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-tag-post-format-pages

Here’s a link to a custom menu walk-through > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2011/08/11/wordpress-com-custom-menu-walk-through/

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and you can read about them here. > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/

I'm currently now exploring WordPress and stuff, and I just have a question - when I'm on my blog in the dashboard and I select "Appearence" -> "Menus" to build my own custom menu. However I have not quite figured out yet how to have "drop-down"-menus when using this.

For instance - when I haven't selected any menu to be my primary menu, then the pages show up on the menu. Now the drop-downs works fine since I'm using some pages as a "parent", but when I select a custom made menu it doesn't work to use any parents in it.
Does anyone understand? Quite hard to describe, but I hope you will get the point.

You need to make a custom menu. Just naming pages the same as a category will not make your post appear on those pages.

With a custom menu, you make the navigation links to the categories or tags.

Your newest post has this category: deen (and others) so the link you'd put into your custom menu would look like this:
http://rayszone.com/category/deen/
Then all your posts in that category will come up via your custom menu.

Here are some details how to do this:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

@raincoaster.
Thanks for the suggestions, I could do both of those however the resulting product is vastly different than my desired outcome.

This is a simple idea that would truely be revolutionary to blogging and give wordpress an extreme edge over the competition. Have a photo blog and take pictures on a wide variety of content but want it split up. When you add a category to your post it automatically goes in with similar content. If you like to keep your blog on topic but ever see good off-topic content you want to share you can have a seperate place for that, instead of having to customize and generate traffic for an entirely new blog for a off-topic section of posts.

Found here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
"WordPress.com is a hosting platform that makes it easy for anyone to publish online. The software is hosted and maintained by the team here at Automattic, letting you focus on creating awesome content!"

Right now things are not easy on wordpress.com, I am straying away from focussing on the content on my site in favor of attempting to increase the navigation capabilities, These are things that require a lot of maintainance on my part if I ever want to make small tweaks to my site (potentially having to edit every single post ever created).

My information is not displayed in the way I would like it, In essence how wordpress now operates is forcing self generated spam on my site. This will still happen with any solution available to me now and the only way to stop it is to allow proper usage of categories. Their full power and potential is not currently being used.
