By default the front page of your blog displays all posts. The 404 (page not found) error message on the front page of the blog appeared because the Admin of the blog deleted the placeholder Hello World post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/not-found/ As soon as you publish a post, not a page it will disappear.

Hi, I have a couple questions about capabilities with the Mimbo Pro theme. I have the Custom Design upgrade as well, so these questions relate to parts of Mimbo Pro that I don't know if I can customize.

1. If my website uses one of the default headers of the theme, is there a way to make the Body Text any bigger? I know how to make the Site Title bigger, but what about the text under it?
2. Is there any way to hide the date/#of comments/the other text that appears under a blog post in the image carousel? Essentially, I want to have the posts on the front page just show their title.
3. Can we employ different color fonts?

Thanks!

If the WordPress Theme was updated, there may have been a chance in the settings.

I have two possible ideas on this.

1. When you view the front of your site, make sure your browser's cache is cleared. Go to Tools or Settings in your browser and look for information on how to clear the browser cache. This removes the saved versions and information of a recently visited web page so it generates a "fresh" version. Some browsers do not completely reload a web page with reload or refresh and this ensures a fresh view. If it is the same, and not what you want, try step two.

2. There are many HTML color charts online. Search for one and find the exact color you wish to have as your WordPress Theme color. Copy the color code, a hexadecimal alphanumeric number such as #123ABC. Paste it into the color selector directly and save the choice. Make sure you click Update or Save Changes on the Theme option screen. Check the front end of your site and see if it sets to the right color.

If these do not work, please contact support again and a staff member may have to look into this closer.

Thanks.

First off this: We are not allowed to remove the footer credits here at WordPress.com, so you will need to put those back in. You can restyle them a little to make them less obvious, or to work with your chosen color scheme, but be careful when doing so as getting them too light or too "less obvious" can be seen as the same as hiding them.

1. To remove the red line, add this to your CSS

body {
border-top: none;
}

2. The color of the text for the current menu item is set here. I've taken the liberty of making it the same green as the other menu labels and have added a bold font-weight so that there is some distinction for visitors as to which page they are currently on. That is always a nice touch.

.main-navigation li.current_page_item a, .main-navigation li.current-menu-item a {

The "Customize Your Blog" tab only displays options for "Headings" and "Body Text" - nothing for "Blog Title." It was fine before with the old layout.

The font selectors for Headings and Blog Title have been combined. The feature has been updated to use font pairings instead of using three separate fonts. Most people had been using only two, and it simplifies the interface and most often looks better if a font pair is used instead of adding too many different fonts. If you'd like to customize further, such as changing the site title separately, you can do that with custom CSS (as you mentioned).

For the Simfo theme, here is an example that will adjust the font for your site description tagline in the Simfo theme:

#masthead .site-description {
	font-family: 'Old Standard TT', "Times New Roman", Times, serif;
	font-variant: small-caps;
	font-size: 18px;
}

You can add or remove the size and variant properties and you can change out the list of fonts if you want.

To understand how font stacks work, check out this page:

I have the same problem with my site re the fonts for the blog title. The "Customize Your Blog" tab only displays options for "Headings" and "Body Text" - nothing for "Blog Title." It was fine before with the old layout.

I was able to adjust the font for my title with CSS, however. But I'd also like to change the font for my site description tagline. Can you help with that? Thanks.

My site is http://japanapalooza.com and I'm using the Simfo theme with Safari on a Mac.

Hi hannahelizabethcolledge, I'm on the case! I'm glad when people let us know about thinks like this instead of trying to switch to the older interface by default because we need to find and fix these things if they're bugs on our side!

I click save and the words 'saving changes' appears - but don't go!

Does the page go completely white or is it just non-responsive after you see the "saving changes" message?

I just checked the blog you selected when you created your help request http://hannahelizabethcolledge.wordpress.com/ and I see that blog is currently using the Bueno theme. So I set Bueno up on my test blog and tried saving changes, and everything worked for me. I went through every one of the side menu items in Bueno. I'm using Firefox 20 on a Mac.

To double check the details so I can make sure I'm testing the right things, can you verify which blog and theme you were using when you saw the problem happen?

And just to make sure, is your web browser up-to-date?

Right: no automated way to do this.
The only way would be to remove the Recent posts widget, create a custom menu in Appearance > Menus, add the posts you want, add a Custom Menu widget to your sidebar, make it display the custom menu you created, and update the menu manually each time you publish a regular post.

That makes sense.

So back to the original objective, there's no way to screen posts out of the list in any kind of automated way then, right?
