Recently someone whose blog content I find inappropriate subscribed to my blog "Reflections." How do I block them from following me?

If there is no way to block them I am tempted to trash this blog altogether which, for obvious reasons, I really would rather not do. But I am not comfortable with this follower and am concerned that it might even be a spam site. I am not prepared to look into their blog, however, to find out.

I do not wish to change my privacy settings as I have several other followers and don't see that I should change my settings and effect my other followers just to weed out one I don't want.

It would be handy to be able to block an unwanted follower, just as we're able to on Twitter.

Appreciate any help you can offer ...

Many thanks,

Yeah, I've got it all set up for moderation. I do appreciate your feedback - you were very quick to answer my question, so I thank you for that. :)

You know there is a legal term - cyber-stalking, which is something I've dealt with, unfortunately, for over five years from the same person. This person is now hovering over my blog.

I understand there is a limit to what you can do. I was just wondering where WordPress stood on this type of harassment.

Again, thank you for your quick and thorough response to my inquiries on this matter.

@demobilisation

I don't understand why WordPress doesn't offer the possibility to delete subscribers..

Public blogs are "public" and any public blog that offers email and/or RSS Feed subscriptions offers them to all. Anyone can subscribe to an RSS Feed and use a feedreader to read posts and comments on any public blog. Any deleted email subscriber could simply subscribe again as we can all get a new email address and/or IP very easily.

We cannot delete or block subscribers from subscribing to a public blog. If you enable blog subscriptions by email on a public blog there is no way to block any subscribers, other than changing your blog’s visibility to “private”. Moreover, anyone can subscribe to a public blog's feed. However, you do have complete control over approving comments. I suggest that you use Comment Moderation. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/ Also note on this page > Settings > Discussion you have the ability to comment blacklist. This will send all comments from that individual directly into your spam queue. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-blacklist But be cautious about using it as ISPs place hundreds of us in the same IP to save money, so you could end up affecting more than a single person.

If your blog is public and does offer subscriptions then that's not possible. You hcan make the blog visibility "private" but yu cannot delete a subscriber from a public blog, and you cannot block anyone from subscribing to a blog that has a "public" setting. What's critical is not who reads the blog. Every WordPress blog has built in RSS feeds for mboth posts and fro comments and anyone can use a feedreader to read your posts. As the blog is "public" and you offer email subscriptions any member of the public can subscribe. However, you can control which comments are moderated, approved and appear on your blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/unwanted-comments/ No one can drive you crazy if you do not allow them to do so. Simply ignore the comments rather than approving them and posting them.

Does anyone know if Feedburner allows for subscribers to be deleted by the owner of the feed?

You could also set up a Contact Form and the parents could then sign up by sending you and email from the form and then manage the subscriptions with an email account set up just for the subscribers using a list inside the email program.

You could put the list of parents email in a text document and paste the email addresses into the BCC section of your own email program. This would keep you from adding a ton of new people to your address book each year. I use a variation of this with a group I below to, we have an online members list and I copy the email addresses from the online list each time I need to send an email to all members.
