You can delete the blog and if you don't either make it private or delete it popup will be creating duplicate content which is not a good thing. You may want t to place only one post on the front page of the old site directing to your new blog's URL.

It can take weeks for search engines to index your blog. It's publishing posts, not pages that attracts search engine attention.

The process we use for verifying free hosted WordPress.com blogs with search engines is found here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/

Note: Even if you do not verify the blog the content will be indexed by search engines so don't feel panicky about this please.

WordPress.com provides the search engines with site maps. We bloggers do nothing. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sitemaps/

Hi,

Is there a way to delete pending comments all at once, rather than doing it in groups of 20, page-by-page? A wordpress blog I work with has ~4000 pending comments, and they're all spam. It would be really nice to be able to delete them all in one bulk action. I've found lots of ways to do this on a wordpress.org site where you have more control, but nothing yet for wordpress.com sites.

Thanks!

There's really no super easy way to tell. This is because it's possible to take an image URL from the media library and use it anywhere on the web and the WordPress.com system doesn't have a way to know the image was used.

When an image is attached to a WordPress.com post, that means that the image will be visible in galleries or slideshows if they are inserted for that post. The attachment status, however, doesn't indicate if an image was actually embedded individually into blog posts or other web pages.

So, it's a tough problem if you want to go through and delete images from your media library. WordPress.com doesn't have any filters that will display a list of definitely-not-used images like that.

I want to make room in my media library. I usually upload images in batches, and occasionally there are pictures I end up never using in a post. I was hoping those were the "unattached" photos that come up when I use that filter searching the media library...so I deleted just a few, as a test, but they ended being images I actually had used in a post so of course they disappeared. I still have them on my computer and have already fixed that, but now I'm confused...how do I quickly sort through 31 pages of images and figure out which ones were used in a post and which were not?

Thanks!!

If you don't receive the email right away, check your spam folders as well. The confirmation email can get caught in them sometimes.

As previously mentioned, to gain access to a WordPress.com account, we'll need one of the following things:

* An email from the email address on file for the account
* The API key associated with the account

There are several WordPress.com accounts that have Administrative access to the blog you listed above. If you can recall who had access to the blog that far back, I would suggest reaching out to one of those users and requesting they help you with deleting the blog.

No we cannot block or delete subscribers from public blogs. However, please read this about public blogs that become private blogs > Blog Privacy and Subscribers > http://wpcommaven.wordpress.com/2011/09/05/blog-privacy-and-subscribers/

Note that you have complete control comment moderation. http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/#comment-moderation If your blog is public others can, of course, read it. They can submit comments but you can Moderate all comments and choose which ones to approve or not.

One other thing I would suggest is to set your blog so that first time commenters are held in moderation till approved, then from that point forward they will not need approval. Settings > Discussion. The next step on that of course is to set it so that all comments are held in moderation until approved.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/discussion-settings/

For trolls, you can “blacklist” them at Settings > Discussion toward the bottom of that page. Enter their email address, their username, and if they included it, their website. That will automatically send them to moderation so that their comments do not appear on the blog. Do note though that if they are determined, they can use a different email address or username to get around that. Also, do not put their IP address in the blacklist. IP addresses are no longer unique, and you might end up blocking legitimate visitors. Also, all they would have to do is go to a wi-fi hot spot, or connect via a different ISP and they could get around that.
