I am also curious if there is a way to center align the gravatar widget under the title at the top of the page??

I think it looks nice without adding extra stuff to the header, but you can add things there with CSS by repositioning things already on the page or by adding a background image to the site title.

Here is one example of the 2nd thing, adding a background image to the site title:

#container h1.sitename {
	padding-bottom: 138px;
	background: url(http://0.gravatar.com/avatar/35c95045e474bfa496b8104c7cf09084?s=128&d=monsterid&r=PG) center 130px no-repeat;
}

That example will work to add your Gravatar image just below the site title in the DePo Masthead theme.

You will have to do this on a page/post by page/post basis using the read more tag button in the page/post editor as explained here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ .

How do you edit the post format for DePo? I would like to add "read more" links to my posts, as some of them are/will be long, and showing the entire entry on the main page is a little much.

I am also curious if there is a way to center align the gravatar widget under the title at the top of the page??

I'm assuming you mean for the site title. The following will do it and override the variable font size for the title (variable depending on length of title).

#container h1.sitename {

I have looked at the CSS and don't see a 'head' stylesheet, but i'm very new to CSS.

I would just like to change the font so that it's not Times New roman or whatever it is, and maybe also change the size of the font to have one line and to be a nice sans serif font.

Can anyone advise?

Facebook like boxes are not supported here. The code for them isn't allowed due to security concerns. If you search here in the forum, http://en.forums.wordpress.com/search.php?q=likebox , you will find several suggested workarounds.

We also have the sharing options which put the buttons at the bottom of posts and pages.

I love DePo, but I cannot seem to figure out how to put a Facebook Like Box on the blog I run. There is a Facebook Share button at the bottom of each post, as part of the share settings for the blog, but how can I add a Like button?

From memory both "Under the Influence" and "Inuit Types" let you have posts tiled across the page rather than just falling below the previous entry. They are both fairly new themes so have more options for customisation. The other option is to get learning CSS if you want to change more colours/fonts/sizes/positions etc. I wouldn't recommend buying the upgrade unless you're fairly confident with it though.

The first two lines should remove the gap under your header image, the third should remove the metadata on each post. Make sure you've added it to the bottom of your custom CSS styles. You should only add the specific changes you make rather than copy-pasting in the whole of the original stylesheet with modifications. Also remember to check the "add to existing stylesheet" option as I mentioned above.

Add this to your custom CSS along with any existing modifications, make sure "add to existing stylesheet" is selected and remember not to copy in all the existing declarations.

.sitename {height:153px;}
#content small {display:none;}
#sidebar ul li {text-align:center;}

Blogger blogs and wordpress.com blogs are completely differnt. We cannot access the HTMP and PHP files for the templates underlying our themes on this multiuser blogging pltform, let alone, edit them. We can only make styling changes through CSS editing if we purchase an upgrade and do the work on our own.

If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

Hi there,

I am trying to get rid of the excess of white space between my custom header in DePo and the menu. I have looked through CSS for "padding" and fiddled with that, but I really have no idea what I am doing. Once upon a time I edited my Blogger site all by myself, but seeing as how this is my business site, I am more hesitant to make a terrible disaster.

Also, while I'm asking for help:

Is there a way to make timestamps disappear, eg "In Uncategorized on 05/20/2010 at 9:25 PM" ?
Is it possible to center the widgets in the footer? They are all left- aligned.

This is one reason we always advise people to test their CSS knowledge with the free preview before purchasing the upgrade. There are only one or two volunteers who know what they're doing with CSS and they're not around right now.

I love the theme but I don't like how bare the left side is. Any thoughts anyone? Can this be done with DePo Square?

Thanks. But it turns out there's an easy way to do it via CSS:

#header h1 {
font-size:xx !important;
}

The "!important" modifier over-rides all previous settings for the style, even in-line ones.

It would seem that the font size is embedded in the code in the template and we cannot edit our underlying templates for themes as they are shared. If we could then every other bloggers with a blog in the same theme would wind up with the same changes on their blogs. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/

Hi,
I'm familiar w/ CSS and have already inserted an image in the header for my blog: http://beyondthemargins.com.

However, the default header font is way too large, and every attempt I've made to over-ride the font-size (by changing #header h1{font-size:xx} in the DePo.css file) has failed.

If I select "View Source Code" in the browser, it looks to me as if the CSS font-size setting is being over-ridden within the HTML itself. This is what is looks like:

Beyond the Margins </h1>

That "font-size: 111.111111111px" doesn't appear anywhere in DePo.css.

My question is, what is setting that font-size, and is there still a way to override it via DePo.css?

I also need to have my masthead link to the homepage.

I'm at chocolateblood.com (chocolateblood.wordpress.com) and I have the CSS edit upgrade.

I'm using the gridfocus theme, and I have pasted a #masthead into the css from a different theme, but I gotta get it to link home. Here's the code I'm using:

top:0;
background:url('http://chocolateblood.wordpress.com/files/2009/12/masthead3.jpg');

if anyone can shed some light on if this is possible, I'd be very thankful ;)
