Robin has been blogging for about 8 months now about life in rural France, cooking, food and diabetes.

This is, I think, his best post on the topic of diabetes--which is often an inherited weakness. His mother's heroic and stoic attitude inspired Robin when he got his diagnosis to take it seriously.

(His editor [& wife] writing this!)

If you were a fan of the BBC classic series POLDARK (also seen on Masterpiece Theatre) and/or you have Type 2 diabetes or are pre-diabetic or just don't want to end up diabetic, check out Robin Ellis' blog on food, cooking and life in rural France.

His message is that you can eat delicious food and still eat healthily (moderation in all things, of course!)

Foodies and those who dream of living in rural southwestern France will enjoy it too.

thank you. Did you know that blood sugar is affected by wireless technology. Magda Havas @ magdahavas.com has done experiments to verify this. I am afraid that all of the wireless technology that is being developed for diabetes management will have other negative effects on health. blood brain barrier problems, cancer, early alzheimer's, focus and memory problems are but a few.

Hi,

Anyone who has or is interested in Type 1 diabetes can follow our blog, which takes a look at our organization and our mission. The Juvenile Diabetes Cure Alliance (JDCA) is dedicated towards doing in depth-research and publishing reports on how the money going to diabetes foundations is being used, and how close (or far) we are from finding a cure.

A united donor community who are focused on funding research with the set goal of finding a cure within the near future is vital for any real progress we can make.

Thanks a bunch.

FoodTreeMD: In spite of a shift to online media, I'm not sure that building followers is much different now than it was years and years ago. You need to engage with individuals, build their trust in you, and they will evangelize for you. These are your top supporters. Plastering your URL everywhere WILL help but it will probably be more of what @timethief mentioned -- other people trying to use you for their own promotion.

That said, there's nothing wrong with plugging your blog on the forums or elsewhere. Just tell people why they should care about you and visit instead of any of the other sites. Then, make the content good enough that they want to come back.

I offer all the standard recommendations -- Twitter, Yahoo! Answers (e.g. quote your own URL as the resource you used to answer a question in their forums), WordPress forums, blog directories, WebMD (for your speciality in particular), and other trade and general interest communities.

Good luck.

It makes little difference which niche your blog is in. The amount of traffic your attract is dependent on what you do to promote your blog both within the wordpress.com community and without. Without knowing what strategies you have employed no specific advice can be given.

When it comes to weight loss you will attract many hits very easily. Some of them, in fact, a considerable number will simply be spammers attempting to post their link on your blog by submitting comments. They set up blogs and they comment on other blogs to drive traffic to their weight loss web sites.

@ teck07 - Excellent advice - there's stuff there I didn't know, though I'm doing about as well as I can on Google (2nd on blog name search, top 2 or 3 on subject searches, from an April 08 start)and traffic is up from 49 hits the first month to 3,453 last month. Taken a lot of work, though, posting mostly once a day, and often 2 or 3 times. (Not blowing my own trumpet, just giving shivani2 an idea of timescale.) And, as you say, you do, very much, need to write about subjects people want to read.

If shivani2 means traffic today specifically, though, then s/he may not be alone - I reckon my traffic is down about 40% or more (though it's not an exact science). No-one else complaining, though, so maybe it's just a bad day... Pretty unusual, though, to be still in the low 30s at this time of day.

Here is some ideas to bring your traffic up

Remember it takes time to build up a organic readership base the best
advice I can give you is be your self and create content that is of
interest for your readers. You will start to notice a increase in your stats.

I also Recommend using the Google feedburner because you can offer
email post updates as well as reach out to higher amount of feed readers.

If you have a Windows Based computer I recommend using the Getsocial
Social bookmark bar. Here is a written tutorial / video tutorial
