I am very new to WordPress and have never used it before so looking for a bit of help!

The home page of my blog (as you can see) contains all of my blog posts. What I want to do is move the post that I put up yesterday onto the "Travel" page, but so that I can still see it on the main page also. I want this so that eventually when I have more posts, if a person is only interested in my travel posts, that they don't have to scroll through all of the posts to find them - that they can just click the "Travel" page and they'll all be there. But like I said, I want to do this and still have ALL of my posts on the main page.

Can I do this?

I have tried the instructions given by both your links on setting a 'featured image' on a particular page, but it hasn't happened. Is that because the custom header is present and 'blocks' the featured image?
I tried uploading an image of nearly 1000 pixels wide and editing it to fit but the 'proportional' alteration took it wider than the 288 limit on height. If I upload possible random headers and select 'random' will they just rotate arbitrarily, or be linked to the separate pages?

Thank you Timethief. Will work through Panos's summary and try and apply. I first need to create possible Headers to the correct specs, and then delineate what where so it will take time. Meanwhile thanks for help.

This is basically a book website, (custom upgraded) and I wondered whether it was possible to either delete the header (and title)on subsequent pages, (after the first) or alter it?
I see that a 'random' header is an option but don't seem to find out how to enter other custom headers in the header section, or delete many there I don't now need.

I have godaddy as my host site, but I cannot edit the page. When I view the page on my mobile, it shows it as a "new blog", but when I view the page on my computer, it shows it as my "montrealmuslimbasketball.wordpress.com" blog.

Please help, how do I solve this issue?

Hi there,

I need help ensuring that the 2 domain names I have point to the 2 seperate pages on my blog.
Currently both domains point to the homepage of my blog, I need one domain to point to the homepage and one domain to point to a different page on the blog.
Please can someone help me?

You don't use pages, you use post categories. To display categories in the top menu, you need to create and activate a custom menu. Details here:

Sorry to need help but i have searched all over the web for a solution to being able to post different info on different pages to fill them rather then just on the front/home page but i am really new to word press and really don't understand any of the given solutions.

I don't see how making my home page static will allow me to post to multiple different pages and i don't know how to allow categories to be shown on the horizontal top bar where the pages are or how to link my categories to the pages themselves!

Im really confused and think posting to different pages should just be a really easy thing so any help would be hugely appreciated! Thanks.

There is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages.

We organize our posts by assigning Categories to them. Although there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance we have done so by creating a custom menu. In that custom menu you will be displaying Categories in tabs along the horizontal navigation to achieve what you want.

These are the how-to instructions:

1. You create a custom menu. http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

2. You add the Categories you want to display and arrange them in the order you want.

3. Then you add and drop and drag the sub-categories below the appropriate Categories, and when you have everything arranged in the menu that you want you save the menu.

4. Go to the “theme location” module at upper left on the menu page. Select your custom menu name from the pull-down labeled “primary location.” Click the save button in that module.

help help soooossss, newbies on the radar. I am using the theme 'Inuit Types'. It only has the 'About' tab and I would like to all 5 more tabs besides it and link them to other pages. I understand the 'pages + linking' part, but how do I create new navigation tabs?

I see your poll is now showing up. You might want to choose a different style. There are poll styles specifically designed for use in the sidebars which are narrower.
