This is a CSS issue. What the Support doc calls "disabling" isn't disabling at all: it merely turns infinite scrolling from auto to manual. So, to answer your question: yes, if you have the Custom Design upgrade, or the bundle that includes it, you can uaw CSS editing to really disable infinite scrolling and restore the original older/newer navigation links.

This isn't a CSS issue.

You can turn it [infinite scroll] on or off any time by unchecking the “Scroll Infinitely” option on your Settings → Reading page. Additionally, adding a footer widget will also disable the Infinite Scroll option. http://en.support.wordpress.com/infinite-scroll/#disabling-infinite-scroll

I am fairly new to my blog, and I need help setting it up. I want to know if I purchase the $99 bundle package, can I use the CSS to change the Older Posts option. Instead of scrolling down the page after you click the Older Posts button, I would prefer my readers to go on to a different page all together, like with an arrow pointing to the left on other themes. Is this at all possible? I use the Coraline theme.

You could also experiment with the "reading" settings (click "settings" from your dashboard and then click "reading"). There are a few options there that may help you present your blog in the way you would like.

For example, if you have infinity scroll (http://en.support.wordpress.com/infinite-scroll/) turned on, which it appears that you do, you might try turning it off.

you can use your archive widget,(go to settings,change appearence,widget and drag anddrop your latest articles and comments if you wantor you can use the shortcode[archive]to have your sitemap,which is very useful

Some themes have sidebars designed into the theme. Some have footer widget areas and they theme you use has both. Sidebars are not your issue.

When I change my "Reading" settings, there's no forward/back to isolate posts and find the issue, so I don't know if it's a post or a sidebar text box causing the issue.

You can email feedback to support at wordpress dot com. To get rid of it, go to Settings->Reading and deselect "To infinity and beyond" infinite scrolling.

How do I get rid of the watermark-like (semi-transparent) wordpress footer that is at the bottom of the screen on so many blogs (mine and those I visit)?

And how do we tell wordpress to get rid of them completely? It seriously hinders navigation. You can't just hit page down, because the footer covers up the last two lines of every page.

I know. I've seen this kind of doing things in many other web sites and real life as well. It is something like "I like this so all others have to like it because they will not have any choice". Anyway I'm staying with WP for now. It is still the best solution for my needs at the moment.

Well, if this is a way of making people purchase Custom Design option just to use the normal WP appearance as before is not looking good to me. It is obvious that many people don't like this infinite scrolling thing so why don't they make the old style available to users as well? Also Custom Design option costs 30USD/year which is too much for me since I was paying less for hosting of my own web site with its own domain and larger disk space. I prefer using WP because it is easier to manage.

Thank you very much. I don't know how i missed this option in the settings menu. Anyway it just makes things a little less annoying but there is still no "next page" type of links. Now I got "load more posts" link which adds more posts to the same page. I chose 3 posts per page so each click adds 3 more. After some time users end up with skyscraper type of page which I don't like at all. I know that most of todays computers and hand-held devices have enough resources to support this without any problem but this is not the point. I believe there are many more people like me who prefer the old style. This function seems useful for pages which are updated very often but not all are like this.
I see that WP wants for some unknown reason to force its users to this infinite scrolling and there are more people who don't want it just like me. So let's hope that WP will eventually listen to their users and stop forcing them on something they obviously don't want to use.
I don't use my page as standard blog but more like web site so one day I just might stop using the latest posts front page style and create my own home page containing exactly what i want.

I set the "Blog pages show at most" value to 3 but when I load my front page it shows more than 5 posts and when I scroll down it continues loading posts until all available posts are loaded and the page becomes almost endless. It wasn't like that some time ago. Is there any way I can restore the old behavior of my front page when it showed only the number of post I want and the readers must click "next" to load the next page?

Here is a suggestion for staff:

Given the universal dislike of "infinite scroll" since it makes things worse not better, perhaps the idea of imposing it everywhere is one that should be abandoned.

Just a thought -- some ideas are bad ideas and this definitely belongs in that bucket.
