Your blog has infinite scroll enabled. Staff have been introducing “infinite scroll" to themes — a site wide change that will be applied to all themes that are suitable for the implementation.

I have the theme "delicacy" and have told it to limit the number of posts to 12 under settings. It's not working. I still have 20+ posts showing up on the home page.

Are you talking about the outdated pages in your top navigation menu?

If so, then make a custom menu titled something like "old issues" and put those pages as child pages of that. They will still be visible but won't clutter up your top navigation.

In fact, IMO, if I were you, I'd make a custom menu with current issues for the top navigation. Then make another custom menu for "old issues" to be shown in your sidebar as a menu widget.

Thanks, @timethief. I have a lot of outdated stuff on my homepage, and I would rather not delete them. I'd like to put them into pages by catagory, so they are available without scrolling the whole way down, which I don't think the average blog reader is likely to do.

timethief, you are a beautiful person and I love you. Your first post with the link to advice about div tags did the trick in two easy steps. I have my missing posts back, and I even have my widgets back, and I am very happy. :)

I am not even going to read about infinite scroll, since that usually gives me a headache. But thank you very much for providing the exact solution so quickly.

(1) content has been imported into the blog,
(2) the blogger has been copying and pasting content from elsewhere, without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text
(3) or the blogger has copied and pasted invalid HTML into a text widget or left an HTML tag open

Something is wrong with my home-page view (http://sloopie72.wordpress.com using Piano Black theme, Google Chrome).

Four of my posts – made a week ago – have disappeared from the home page view. 'm not sure when this started, but it was some time later yesterday or today.

>MISSING POSTS from 9/6, 9/5, 9/4, 9/2 (I made no post on 9/3). These do show up in my Dashboard Posts list, and I can find them using categories or tags through posts that displays.

What I've tried: editing and saving the missing posts; closing tags on the missing posts as well as the ok posts before and after; clearing cache; no luck.

Sometimes if I scroll down the page very quickly, the first missing posts appears momentarily in full-width, then blinks out after a split second; it's hard to recreate.

I notice my widgets disappeared from the homepage sidebar last night; seems it was always supposed to be that way, which doesn't answer why they've been showing just fine since about 8/25 when I activated this theme. But that's a secondary issue at this point; I mention it because it seemed to happen at the same time my posts disappeared, so it may be related if some kind of system update would have caused this.

Thank you so much for your reply. I do not understand why businesses such as WordPress and Google insist on 'fixing' what is not broken. But since Microsoft does it with every iteration of Windows, perhaps it's merely a case of 'job justification" rather than a true improvement.

Yes, I've tried turning off infinite scroll, however even when I go back to the old "load older posts" style, I can only do that once, and then the option doesn't show up on the second page. Is this still related to that update?

I have about 70 posts on my blog, and a couple weeks ago I could no longer load more than 2 pages worth. I can change the amount of posts that load on each page, and display them all that way, but it takes a lot longer to load.
I didn't change any settings that would cause this, it seems to have broken on its own. Any suggestions?

That is the (unaesthetic IMO) product of infinite scrolling introduced to ever more themes on WordPress.com.

At the bottom of the view post (the reading page) of my blog "The Horsemaster", a box is displayed with the name of the blog, the wordpress URL and the name of the theme "Misty Look". When you hover your cursor over it, it underlines.
I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. I dislike it, and did not intentionally put it there. How do I get rid of it, and why is there in the first place??

I am trying to limit the posts that are on my main page. For example right now all of my posts are on my main page & you can keep scrolling & scrolling down through them. It looks too messy & I would like to condense it. Under reading settings, I have changed the "Blog pages to show at most" and "Syndication feeds show the most recent" as it says in the FAQ but it didn't change anything. When someone comes to my main page, I would like them to see my most recent full post, and then show summaries of the past 4 posts below that in 2 columns. If they want to read that post, they would have to click it open to read the full thing.

How can I do this? Thank you!
